Hi people!
Way back in early may I planned on purchasing a Royal Alloy 150. The cream and red one that I wanted was quickly sold before I could make a formal commitment. My other option was to put down a deposit and have the dealer order one. After looking closer I was drawn o the high class grey color which actually looks like a blue in the light. I put down 2k and asked the dealer to go aeda and order. Because of a thing called cover 19 I am still waiting. I was told that the scooter is in the country and should be a the dealer any time soon. Having so much time to ponder the possibilities I ordered heated grips, transmission kit, leg shield protectors and cowl protectors to. I was even contimplating having a Scorpion exhaust slapped on as well. Originally the dealer told me that the scooter would been by Mid June.
Here I am almost three months later waiting patiently. News has been passed around that the 300 has passed US spec 6 months ago I have decided that I can wait a while longer to grab the 300. Yess I might not see it until after the first of the year or maybe even longer. Yes I am chomping at the bit to get out and ride. I left a message for the dealer to let them know my intentions. My question is, am I anyway out of line for switching up?, especially after the dealer ordered the scooter for me. My thinking is that the dealer will have an easy time selling the 150 and the accessories also. Thought?? I appreciate your time.

If your dealer is OK with it, and you would be happier with the 300, why not.

Is there any additional news on the 300?

Things are so weird sometimes. I just got in and received a message from my guy at the dealer saying that they wanted to talk about the upgrade and that he agrees with my decision. Thanks for your response!

Just got off f the phone with the dealer. The word is that the 300's should be here now after the first of the year. These things can drag on, lots of variables. Not a lot of info but all the news I need to pump the brakes on the 150 and hold tight for the 300.

I will keep you posted if and when I hear of anything. They are selling for about a little over 4,900. in euros, about $6900 U.S dollars. Pricey but worth it considering it will have the Vespa motor

Since we are talking Loveland, Colorado and it is beginning to sound like you would not receive delivery of the 150 before the end of summer, you really aren't giving up much by waiting until next Spring. I hope it all goes well for you. The Royal Alloy body and the Piaggio-designed, liquid-cooled 278cc engine are an interesting combination for sure.

I see your point. Yes winter is coming but we do have over 300 days of sunshine a year which makes pretty comfortable riding even in the winter. But yes I can wait. It's going to be a long one. Thanks for the reply!

I rode a Royal Alloy 150 for the first time today. My friend has a little over 7K miles on it. He was looking at a new SYM Cticom 300i and he wanted to try something with 16-inch wheels so we traded with my 03 BV 200 for a ride.

Wait.

I'm a big Genuine fan (06 Buddy 161, 13 Blurr 220i) but it is no Buddy, no Blurr 220i and it's no Stella.

These are just my opinions after a 10 or so mile ride. YMMV

Good

It is a very good looking metal bodied scooter. Yes the design is a rip off of a Yamaha Riva 200 but get over it Paint and looks are very nice, fit and finish is ok, a few rattles but it's a scooter.

Suspension was tight, which I like, handling was sharp. Lean a hip or press a floorboard and you're flicking left and right.

No ABS but i found braking to be very good however I didn't really push it.

Not So Good

Way underpowered.

Here in SoFla not that big a deal (flatland). It will do a nice 50-60 (indicated) which is fine for a suburban area but it doesn't have enough power to get out of it's own way. Torque is low and there is nothing left for when you need to make a move NOW!

We don't have hills here next to the ocean but we do have drawbridges. It's really a mild climb to go over one but I was WOT to stay at 50 indicated and not really pulling. I think it would really struggle with mountain riding.

Seating is very high on the scooter. The closest I can think of is a Blurr 220i for comparison seating so lot's of wind into the chest at speed. The Blurr is all torque and an awesome city jammer.

If you want a metal bodied scooter it's all that's out there and overall in my opinion it's OK. Reminds me of a Kymco Like 200 which I always liked and thought they were way underpowered but ok.

My buddy has stated many times that when the 300s arrive he's immediately trading in but that right now his RA does everything he needs it to do; but he's watching and waiting.

scooter Raton. Thanks for your review and sharing thoughts. The Royal Alloy's body is a replica of the Lambretta . I don't see enough of a of a resemblance to the Yamaha Riva to be called a rip off. Was just down in Boca visiting family BTW. Cheers!

I had a Genuine Blur ss220i for many years before my BV350. I rarely come across anyone else who owned one. It was a fun scooter (the sharp handling and brakes were amazing), but I always wanted more power. If it has the motor from my BV it would have been perfect.

I don't understand using a garden variety 150cc GY6 in a heavier steel bodied scooter. Although it seems to be working in terms of day to day reliability.

Everybody gripes about it being a Lambretta ripoff so comparing to the Riva was a joke as they were probably the first to go "retro". I have an "Antique" tag on my 90 Riva 200 just to make purists wince!

Yeah its a TNG metal bodied scooter that looks like a Lambretta. Personally I don't have a problem with that, it just looks like one. It's a nice looking scooter and the paint looks good but a few of the normal areas are showing a little rust but we ride next to the ocean a lot.

Hit me up next time you're in Boca we can go for a ride with the group!
