Modern Vespa

I thought I wanted red... searched and searched within hundreds of miles... found a one or two but the dealers were gouging on the extra fees. And all the while I couldn't get the orange (Arancio Impulsivo) off my mind. But finally everything came together yesterday and I took the orange plunge with a 2021 GTS300!

Can't say enough about Vespa Motorsport, San Diego. TC and Max were ultrahelpful - gave me a solid deal without inflated additional fees. Bonus points because they had some of the extras - Vespa crash bars and windshield - in stock and they gave me a great discount on those. In fact they even installed the crash bars at no cost while I was doing paperwork.

Great experience. Thanks also to all of you who answered my noob questions and helped me sort through options.

Now the real fun begins!

Unless you're standing right next to your scoot, don't use it. I call it the 'suicide stand'.

It's a really deep orange that, depending on the lighting, can look red in pictures.

I drove a '75 VW Beetle for a few years. It was orange. Until my GF parked her orange '72 Beetle next to it. Then it was red. Until my friend, Jim, parked his '69 Coronet next to us.

Then you couldn't see either Beetle because his car was so freaking big. But I imagine his red paint would have made mine orange and Tricia's oranger.

Congrats! My only advice now is be very careful with the side stand. I've seen a bunch of posts and pictures of them going down because it wasn't fully secure. From my own experience as well I will never use it again. The spring on it when its new is really tight and wants to be sucked back into the bike. Just wanted to share that, I wish someone would have shared with me when I got mine. Enjoy! The first service comes up quick at around 600 miles

See you around town. FYI - There’s a scooterwest group ride at the end of August. I did the national vespa parade day ride and it was a blast!

It's ok to use it. On these later models it locks down and is safe.

Mr. Mayor, can we see a couple of pictures of the left side? In your first photo it looks like the crash bars interfere with getting to the center stand. Maybe it's just the angle.

Nice bike! Your crash bars look different than mine. My crash bars have about 1 inch clearance from the lower fairings. Yours has a lot more room.

Mine are the Vespa crash bars.

When Robot showed his new "orange scooter" I knew that was the right color. Great choice! Looks real good!

Yeah - Robot and one other guy in the shop were buying orange… who am I to argue?!

Mayor ... listen to me, that color is very beautiful (regardless of what it's called) ... it reminds me of some Ferraris; indeed, put a Ferrari emblem in the shape of a shield.

It is a gorgeous scooter. The only reason I would not have bought Orange Is that around here everyone would assume I am a Clemson fan.

That’s a real beauty! And lucky you to live near the best Vespa dealership in the USA! What I don’t understand is some saying not to use the sidestand. I have a 2018 Gts and have been using the sidestand since day one and have never had issues.
