While researching tinnitus for my wife I came across this. It has nothing to with tinnitus but I thought it was interesting. I wonder if the stop sign or the GT in this case was acting as a speaker? This is the track Jess was taking at the beginning of the thread.

As to the OP question, Occam's Razor applies. Somebody with a sound system, out of sight, and the sound was traveling.

I live over 2 miles from a local coffee shop that does outdoor concerts on summer nights, usually just an amplified single guitar and a vocalist, and I can hear the music clearly on my patio. I also live over 3 miles from a local high school stadium and can hear the bands playing at halftime. Sound carries a long ways in still air.

When I was a kid we’d pick up the “500,000 Watt Clear Channel Voice” of WLW in Cincinnati 100 miles away on appliances, faucet screens, etc. every kid had a crystal radio in a cardboard ring box in his pocket listening to the Reds at Crosley Field. At some point, they had to reduce power to 50,000 W.

Sorta like Wolfman Jack on the half-million Watt station across the border in Mexico.

Now I hear sounds all the time, not just on my scooter, due to tinnitus and hearing loss. I apparently don’t have the vintage Dodgers station, though. 😉

EDIT: I guess I should have read my own link. It was already 50,000 Watts by the time I arrived. Still could hear it in appliances and faucet, though.
