Well, I learned that I am doing it all wrong: I need to work on that "jump on side saddle and get the bike up to speed before straddling" technique.

Plus, I expanded my vocabulary - "scrutineer," hadn't heard that before. I had to look it up.

When I was Johnny's age, I never wore a helmet. There may have been some mention of my head not being a vital organ. But, today I is smarter.

I could never bump-start any of my rides unless I was already on a good slope. Razz emoticon

On second thought, I could bump-start the little Metropolitans, but they have a kickstart.

Thanks for the memory lane trip! I used to bump my BSAs and Triumphs and even a borrowed J.A.P. running methanol in the dim past. Sometimes it dissipated the anger at the bike.

OMG, my daughter got some roller skates last night and I was reminiscing with her about friday nights at the rink followed by hanging out at the milk bar till dawn. 80s not 50s though, remember we're a day ahead of you and 20 years behind.

I however must dispute your thread title, there is no evidence anywhere ever of an Australian learning anything.
