Good day all. I had a friend of mine who has a 500hpe state that there is a brake recall for 2019 models and maybe 2020. Does anyone know if the is the case? I haven't received anything in the mail from Piaggio, but with the way mine is registered, I wouldn't expect to receive anything. Purchased brand new. Just want to make sure I get it sorted if that is the case.

Thanks.

Yea I purchased a 2020 this Spring and they had to perform the recall procedure below:

Summary: Piaggio Group Americas, Inc. (Piaggio) is recalling certain 2019-2020 MP3 500 motorcycles. The brake lines may have been improperly galvanized, allowing hydrogen to be released into the brake fluid. Remedy: Piaggio will notify owners, and dealers will perform a complete brake system flush, free of charge.

new200guy, try this https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls to check if there are recalls for your one.

Thanks for the information Jah but i have a Euro Spec model so a Euro VIN won't work. I have a service coming up soon, so I will inquire when I get it done.

2020 hpe sport just done the brake recall, like night and day hardly touch the front and rear brake levers now and they bite really good, so get the bikes checked in, just check online for your vin number and it will say if needed;

I just had the front pads replaced on mine and have to say that they are not that great. Was done at my last service in mid June. Initial bite is good but the overall performance of spirited riding doesn't inspire total confidence. I do pull front and rear brakes when stopping and corning to change the attitude of the bike when riding, but wish I sprung for something more performance oriented versus OEM.

I agree the brakes are not that great. I know it's a heavy beast and for obvious reasons can not fit bigger brakes, but there's simply not enough bite... if there are many parts that improve that, I'd be all over that. Checked my VIN and mine isn't part of the recall.

Did you eventually get the brake recall done, mine is a 2020 hpe 500 bought in Germany, but done the recall in France, totally different bike after recall as I already said, and brake pads still the same. my recall showed up below when VIN was entered

Mine is a 2015 (3rd gen MP3) and am still on the factory installed brake pads, but brake lever feel improved dramatically after a complete flush with MOTUL DOT4 fluid.

Took quite a bit fluid (about 1 Liter) to get every last trace of air out. Apparently they kind rush things at the factory, which is kinda understandable.

yes mine needed to pull all the way back when I first got it with 4000kms on the clock, now a little finger pull on front and rear and scoot responds nearly as good as my old bmw 1200
