I am now an old head. Back on August 9, 1995, I was a fresh outta high school lil’ head that had only been to 13 shows…
I can’t bring myself to go to the “& company” shows. Except for the fare the well show here in the city, because I thought that was it.
I was awakened on 8/9/95 by some friends that lived in the neighborhood, they were my “tour/show” friends. It was the day before my 20th birthday
That music shaped my life, and my adult attitude.

Sometimes the light's all shining on me.
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me,
(Go ahead, you know how it goes.)

Outta high school in 1971. The Dead, TOP, or Santana were here about twice a month! There were always The Filmore and Winterland for the purists. Thanks for the artwork and yes, I still have a few of his neckties!

Wait, so you're old. The FIRST time I saw the Dead was in 1971 at Pauley Pavilion (UCLA). No seating on the floor and Bill Walton was in the audience as a student.

Last time I saw the Dead was at the Forum in Los Angeles on NYE I wanna say 79 /80.

Edit: Looks like I was talking out my ass as of course the Dead always played in the Bay Area for New Years. To clear some of those cobwebs or "acid" haze, here is a fantastic site to get your Dead shows straight:

Y'all make me feel silly for saying I am an old head now. I just turned 46, my first show was Buckeye Lake 91, and I managed to hit 12 more including the last one Soldier Field 95. I got St. Louis, Memphis, Deer creek, Pine knob, Auburn hills, and what ever they call the Rosemont Horizon now, in between.
I'm sure if Jerry coulda added years to his life, I woulda added shows to my list.
As long as they played the mid-west I was going.
I was fortunate to get into them young, and that I had the ability to devote some time and money to it.
The bus came by and I got on...as they say.

Back in the day...

But that plate holder came with the van. It seems appropriate to keep it.

I was at the last Hartford, CT show. 5000-ish tickets sold, 50,000-ish showed up. Fences all torn down tickets not needed. We were 3 1/2 hours late and still saw an hour plus show. Fun while it lasted.

Jerry Garcia remains one of my favorites so lucky to have seen the Grateful Dead and some JGB shows and all the music introduced through the experience rest in peace Jerry.

I thought it was you that had that kickass Skull and Roses/Vespa tattoo.

I saw it the first time When you were “Buddy Raton” over on MB.
