Hi Folks!

Im new to Vespas, though my siblings has Vespas until now, but I would rather ask questions here due to that I told them I was not interested before

Is it worth it to buy a 2006 LX 150 for 4 grand with less than 500 miles on it, super clean, favorite color and all the bells and whistle or should I just get a vespa 150 2018 with less than 2000 miles and its bare? (old vespas)

Can you also tell me what made 2006 different from the newer ones? I was asking the dealer and it seems like he does not know.

If I get the 2006 would the parts for this be still available or easy to find?

So far those are my questions and I hope someone can reply before I purchase something that's going to be a headache for my daughter.

IMO, if the 2006 LX 150 is flawless it might be worth $1500...

It's worth every penny you are willing to pay.
No more, no less.

Having said that, it's way more than I'd pay.
I paid $1900 for an LX150 once.
Back in 2012....

That's about double where it should be.

But if it's exactly what you want, then I'd say 2k is more market rate. If it's had an oil change, new tires and the brakes flushed and bled. 2.5k

Remember this is a 16 year old bike. Stuff goes bad from them sitting too!

to me, If it was a 2012 with Fuel injection and in really good shape it would be worth 1500-2000.

God I love these posts!

I once bought a cherry LX150 for an extension cord and a 18 rack of bud light platinum!

Past purchases do not reflect current prices. Just because you got a deal that one time doesn't mean that's market rate now. Can you use that as a comp? Sure. Can the seller tell you to get fucked and find one nicer? Absolutely.

Also, market matters. In BFE by way of Charleston nobody knows or cares what a vespa is. In LA, that bike is an easy 2k all day, everyday and twice on Sunday.

At any rate. Pay what you're comfortable with. Run some comps. And make an offer. Show up with cash. Check the tags and title before buying lest you get mired in paperwork bullshittery, or even worse, swindled.

Good luck!

No. Read Greasys first reply for pricing.

Question though, what's the 2018 150 scooter you mentioned? How is it bare? Not following you.

$4000 is close to what I paid for my 2006 LX150.

But then, I bought it in September 2005, so, yea, your seller is on crack!!

I dunno, things are worth what people are able to sell them for. I totally agree 4k is too high, but I also don't agree with everyone on the 1500 point... Good luck finding an LX150 for 1500 that isn't a very tired or even beat piece, at least in my neck of the woods.

To me that sounds like something I'd perk up for at 2500.

At 1500 I'd be running out the door and getting ready for a big fight that night for not consulting on it first

Four years ago, I sold my 2007 LX150 for $1500. It had low miles and was equipped with a top box and a flyscreen and had new tires and battery. Also had a floormat. Bike was cherry and not a scratch on it other than a small slit in the seat about half an inch long from my wife's bicycle falling over on it. It included two helmets and jackets.

I sold it to a member here who was very pleased with it.

KBB has them at a typical listing price of $2470.00 and a trade of $1660.00 in my area (Indiana) YMMV

That's is in good condition and typical mileage.

Exactly right Jim. I owned a '09 carbed LX, and then a '12 fuel injected LX. I would have happily paid twice as much for the injected bike as its carbed predecessor. The carb in that bike was nothing but trouble.

There is a lot to do on a bike that just sat for 15 years!
It needs new tires, new drive belt, new gas lines, new petcock, new air filter, oil change, brake fluid flush, gas tank flush, carburetor break down and inspect, new clock!..and a valve adjust in 100 more miles!

That's a deal! I just paid $4,200 for a 2020 with 350 miles and my father in law sold a 2015 with under 3,000 miles for $3,200 in one day.

I second the fuel injection. My 2007 LX 150 is carb and it is fine but the FI is very nice.

There is a low mileage 2006 LX150 in my FB marketplace feed right this second for $1500

There is another for a 2016 Primavera for $3000

I bought my 2014 GTS for $2799 one year ago.

A 2006 lx150 for $4000 is about $2000 too high in my neck of the woods

My 2 cents: Sellers seem to asking for more money this summer. On average, about 1K higher in my area (Charlotte, NC) then this time last year. I don't know why, because they are not selling. Day after day, they are still up for sale. The ones that do sell are clean and priced a little more reasonably . If the owner of that LX wanted to really sell it here, it would be up for $2500 and sell for around $2,000.[/url]

With, as I recall, a salvage title that needed a lot of attention?

There are so many variables to vehicle pricing that I find these comparisons by model alone useless and misleading. Condition, season, location, mileage, maintenance status, equipment, title status, pre- or post-COVID, etc.

I think there are really three bands of pricing in scooters: "bargain" (below $1700 for the LX/S series), "typical" ($1700-2200), and "fully fixed up, or else what were you thinking" (above $2200).
