Hi folks

I cant open my seat- not an uncommon problem I know but cant find my specific issue anywhere (or at least a solution to it).

The Lock button seems to be working normally- I can hear the clamp under the seat activating when I press it, but the seat remains tightly shut.
Tried the manual release in the Glove box but no go.
Tried all the usual wriggling, lifting, putting pressure on the area above the clamp etc. but not budging!

Do I have any other options before taking it to the shop?

Thanks all

Sometimes pressing on the seat or giving it a thump as you press the button helps. As the manual release doesn't work either, I guess its not the battery.

Test with the release lever in the front case also by spraying WD40 (with tube beak) on the hook under the saddle.

I've had the same problem on my GTS 300. I've gotten it open by sitting on the seat and bouncing up and down and then re-trying to open it. I've found that pushing down hard on the seat while pushing the seat opener can work.

Since then, I've done the following to close my seat and I have had zero problems. I let the seat drop down from almost the vertical position. The fall seems to give the seat enough speed/momentum to close the latch mechanism properly. YMMV, but it may be worth a try. Good luck!

Sigh... This has been covered so many times on MV.

Open the seat. Remove the gas cap and the rubber ring beneath it. Remove the plastic cover.

Adjust the latch to your liking.

Replace the cover etc.
