The founder is a friend. They have been collaborating for some time with Piaggio. But now it's official.
Soon on our Vespas.
Not sure I am glad or not…

Motorcyclists and scooterists already have inbuilt sensory technology, they're called eyes and ears.

So if I am scooting on a loose stone road and a leaf blows across the road in front of me, would this thing mistake it for a mouse and slam on the front brake? Only once before I disabled it.

Cheers,
Bob

Sometimes I agree with the cliche that "the part that you don't have is the one that won't fail".

Sensors on motorcycles, such as for accident avoidance, stand a good chance to be required at some point. Just look at what will be likely mandated soon for cars in the EU: lane departure warnings and drowsiness alerts as well as other electronic aids that have been proven to reduce the risks of collisions. I see this as something positive. Just like traction control. I turn mine often off, but it can also be a life saver. It's great that Piaggio is working to stay ahead of the curve.
