It's turning out to be an interesting year with wasps....earlier this year I discovered a wasp crawling inside my FF face shield while barreling down the highway. Rather unnerving. I can't recall anymore if I was aware of how it got there, but anyway, after watching him for a bit decided to just pop the shield open and hope for the best. It worked....he flew/blew away.

Last weekend, riding back from riding with friends, I was riding into a small town and had the visor popped up for ventilation in the heat. Felt something hit my face and my first though was "that's probably a wasp..." I was going to pull over to stop anyway, so I did, and tried to decide what to do. Wasn't stung yet but figured I was pretty high risk. So I put the scoot up on the center stand, took off my glasses and put them somewhere safe and decided for the quick exit approach. Yanked the helmet off, no sting. Whew emoticon Looped around inside, and just inside the chin bar was a yellow jacket looking kind of dazed. Flicked him off and all good. Then forgot where I'd put my glasses and spent a frantic couple of minutes looking around me, even on the ground for them. Eventually found them in my pants pocket. Facepalm emoticon

One of the risks of riding around with your visor up. Not going to stop, at least in hot weather. People get them stuck in their collars too, and with my luck......

I drive always with the visor down. About a year ago I had the same experience as you earlier this year.

I heard the thick of something a bit taller hitting the visor, I did not know then it was a wasp, but shortly after I noticed one crawling on the inside of the visor. That was a bit scary.
I was not on a motorway, just a regular road. Pulled over to the side, opened the visor and took of my helmet and the wasp left.

That would freak me out.

I have a honey bee allergy and low BP. Two years ago I was riding when a bee came up under my helmet and stung me, so decided to make a U turn. I blacked out, awakening to EMTs lifting me from the hot asphalt of the opposing lane onto a stretcher.
I broke some ribs, a thumb, some skin and my helmet was trashed.
Here's the helmet I had:

I gave it a lift in scooter to a warrior ant (poisonous insect in my area) down my back from the collar. Passers-by were able to witness the disgusting spectacle of a large scooter driver who stripped naked in the middle of a street ...

I've been stung in the forehead by a bee and stung in the balls by a wasp while riding.

You're welcome.

I already had an inordinate fear of bees and wasps before I clicked on this thread.

Thanks, everyone.

That was a quite dramatic experience and could have ended much worse!

So what will you be doing now, suppose you would be stung by a bee while driving the scooter?

Also when I was much younger and riding a CX 500 I rode into what I thought was a very low dark cloud.

It turned out to be a swarm of bees. Luckily the tall screen I was hiding behind took care of many of them with a comical dubadubaduba sound.
