Wondering why Piaggio scooters have the screw at the top of the air box with a knurl on the end. Doesn't make sense when you still need a screwdriver for all the other screws. Can it be screwed in elsewhere and be used as a handle/puller perhaps?

On some 125/150/200 scooters that screw and another one are hidden behind the LH cowl, so can't be accessed with a screwdriver without dropping the engine down. The knurled knobs can be turned with outstretched fingers from the inside, with the pet carrier removed.

Ah... thanks. Mystery solved. Not great where it's exposed like mine as it directs water down there and rusts the screw.

I suggest you replace it with a standard 'into plastic' screw then.

The LX50's also suffer from poor placement of the access hole (sure looks like they tried) to get to that screw! Piaggio should have used this hand screw in the two upper locations but they only put it on one of them! My solution was to purchase an extra one of these screws for my LX's so that I can do the work without getting mad!
