Keeping it mostly stock, finding parts is sometimes a real bugger!! Lol
New Malossi carb /Dellarto jets , Pollini Head (this is a little bigger 64cc) plus new gaskets for all. This is powered by a magneto so no battery! Gas tank was in great shape, just had to clean a little before heading to powder coat. New side covers in black, looking for white, had a chance, lost 'em. Originally grey. Have to wait for NOS to surface. Fingers crossed. NOS FINDS: Headlight see pic, speedo and gasket. Used parts found took YEARS! Speedo spacer, quill stem bolts, quill stem spacer, front rack- super excited to get this they are rare and usually expensive as heck $300+ got this one for 85. 🤗 You dont see the new cables, side covers, and engine parts. My mechanic has them. My talents lie in sourcing parts, finding a good bargin, cleaning up old parts, and color choice. Lol. But I will be learning to do some basics now, so I will likely be posting a lot, haha. T part is for the seat and rear rack Here are more pics Does anyone know what do you call you call the little rubber covers that cover the cable connections? I need some! Parts on the way.... NOS racers, rings and bearings for steering, taillight and bracket super hard to find, speedo cables, vin plate. That's all for now..... ![]() Domino cluster ![]() Old petcock ![]() View from top ![]() These are the rubber things I need ![]() Branding ![]() "T" ![]() Saddle ![]() Mug Shot ![]() Box-O-Treats New Old Stock Headlight, Sppedo, Sppedo Gaskets and Ring, handle Bar Quill bolts and spacer almost impossible to find, gas cap looked for this for three years, bolts for side panels. ![]() Look at the detail in these rims! ![]() Fork lock was compromised! ![]() Need a new fender unless anyone knows how to fix this, without a sticker that is lol ![]() This is the wrong taillight, correct one on the way! ![]() Bullet Headlight & Speedo ![]() My supervisor ![]() Frame, seat suspension piece, rear rack and its support pieces. |

I don't know much about Vespa mopeds but a lot of the hardware looks similar to vintage vespas. Brake switch, cable adjuster, Speedo all are identical to vintage vespa parts.
Got an official parts book? If the Piaggio numbers are the same as a smallframe, you might be in luck identifying and sourcing parts. |
My son was into mopeds for a minute, and these 2 sites seemed to be the best source for parts (he had a Puch Maxi): https://myronsmopeds.com; and https://www.1977mopeds.com/Default.asp. Sometimes if you can't find it, you'll have to modify something else to do the job. This is a cool project!
Also, I'm pretty sure the cat is supervising your supervisor! They say dogs have owners, while cats have staff. Best of luck! |

Yup, all are "Supers" at my house but me. I'm the only staff. lol.
Thanks for that heads up. There are several moped parts places, but hands down best place for info is Myron's Moped, Shaun is The Man! if you have a moped definitely cruise his site, most comprehensive knowledge base of tribal knowledge for mopeds hands down! Just got my order from him this week. I'll post some more pics. Some new/ NOS, some borrowed, and some blue.... Anyone out there, if ya need moped stuff be sure to ask, I have a lot of resources! Im also restoring my second vintage trailer. 1969 Traveleze 18' I really like restoring things. It is a BAD habit....proceed with caution! lol ![]() Not my Moped but I just got that front rack last week!!! ![]() Something Blue...frame ![]() Something borrowed, Tail light and bracket, used. ![]() Borrowed again, Rack used ![]() New & NOS from Shaun at Myrons, look at that headlight!!!! ![]() Treats from Treatland! ![]() More Treats... |

I agree, Shaun was super helpful when I was hunting parts for my Batavus VA...shoulda hept that one.
Very cool on the Ciao, I have a small gaggle of Ciaos, a '71, a '78 project and an '81 with a few mods. They're a blast to ride and can really scoot with the right pipe and a smaller rear pulley. Watching this progress and rooting for that first ride! |

Oh thank you for the support!!
I have another restoration project, that "goes with" the mopeds. I am restoring a 1969 Traveleze Trailer who goes by the name of Shelly the Sea Shack, my little beach front property! She will be painted to match 2 Ciaos, and when finished will go touring at vintage trailer shows. AZ- Slynch, yes addictive little projects, they have a siren call. Looking for a second. Not worried about speed, just function and trying to stay reasonably true to original design. Met retired dealer in SD that is also helping with parts and repairs, how lucky am I. If ya need a part lemme know. He wont let me give his name but I can get ya a part, he has quite a nice little stash. I am hoping he will sell me one of his Ciaos or a Grande. I would prefer a non-variated Ciao, like I have now. I am not a mechanic, so those are easier for me to work on. Thanks Vespa Auntie, here is a little more eye-candy. ![]() This vintage furniture is currently at powder coaters getting a face lift to match the trailer and Ciao, lol ![]() Shelly exterior the day I bought her. ![]() Shelly's interior the day I bought her. ![]() Progress inside and out. Mannny hours, and miles to go before I sleep, lol. ![]() Before... ![]() Before 2 ![]() Some repairs.....exterior, holes patched, shined up, cleaned, but still a long way to go. ![]() Work in progress ![]() Getting better, interior now. ![]() Interior now 2.
