Stopped by the post office this morning - just about 20 yrs to the minute we first became aware ...... It was a beautiful day like this in NYC that morning.
Hard to tell, but this is one huge flag.

Yes, those blue skies bring back memories of that day. It *was* a gorgeous morning on 9/11/01, up until the events. Though I wasn't in Manhattan at that time, I don't think I ever felt as much fear and uncertainty as I did those few hours as everything unfolded. And then the immense sadness, but unusual calm for the few days after. And then suddenly, NYC pulled together as a city and for months, or even a year later, NYC was the most pleasant place to be. Crime dropped way down, people were cordial to each other, no one honked their horns, no one glared at you on the subway... Twenty year already...Wow.

I will never forget that day! I was in Los Angeles California on my way to work in downtown LA from where I lived at the time in San Pedro.

I was riding my motorcycle to work as I did many days but on this day I knew something was up from the way the traffic was behaving. It was crowded as usual but people were just driving different, they were leaving room from the vehicle in front of them using their turn signals (the last thing you want to do in rush hour traffic is use your turn signal and let someone know you are trying to get over they will block you) and letting people merge, generally acting like good polite citizens which is just super weird in rush hour traffic.

When I got to work in downtown is when I found out what had happened, and since we were downtown it was determined that we might be a target as well so we were all told to go home, no work that day.

I always ask when the subject comes up where were you when it happened, I was on my bike on my way to work for a 7:00 AM start Pacific time.
