I stand corrected! I am just operating from past experience. I usually walk in and buy a season pass in January, so I haven't actually looked at the website in a while.

My two fronts shipped. Fingers crossed for the rear. I ordered these a month ago.

Too many things going on since we made the original plans to see you all. Had to back out.
Cancelled our cabin this morning.

Was really looking forward to seeing our old friends again, and meeting the rest of the group.

OK all my tires are here. A Vespa shop in Shelbyville said they would mount and balance them for me. Today I am doing the belt and oil change and checking the other consumables. Also mounting a gps and getting my helmet radio installed.

I am leaving on Wednesday bound for Maryville, TN. Thursday I plan to do the tail of the dragon and then head down through Robbinsville and on to Vogel.

This shot was taken yesterday, about 14 miles from Vogel. In fact, that line of thunderstorms probably stretches all the way there...

So one thing I hadn't thought about for hot weather riding until last week when it was mid-90s here was to remember to bring & put on Chapstick when you're out riding. Even with a full face helmet, my lips were drying out...

Note to self: Also remember evaporative vest, Camelback, sunscreen, etc...

May ride over to Robbinsville tomorrow and stay at Microtel. Could meet up around dragon somewhere if I do and ride Cherohala to Telico for lunch,

I am going to stay in Maryville I think but it is not far to Tellico Plains so I will meet you at Grains for lunch around noon.

Less than 3 hours from Maryville to Tellico via dragon and Cherohala. The extra 2 hours is all fun road. I would meet you either deals gap or north end of dragon if you want and ride over with you to lunch.

I have Thu/Fri/Sat reserved at Campsite "M".


I am going trailer up bike/tent/cots/etc. , and set up tomorrow afternoon. I will sleep there tomorrow night so that I don't have to ride 40 miles to get there Fri morning by 9am. The rest of my crew will come in Fri afternoon after school lets out and stay till Sun morning.

I am also going to bring a 5 gallon can of gasoline and a trunk full of tools.

As of right now, I am bringing a BV350.

I had to bail on meeting Fuzzy in Tellico. Lots of hip pain. Having lunch in blairsville.

We have been here before.

Plan in morning is to meet at Valero station on US129 about 5 miles north of Vogel with full tanks of gas and kickstands up at 8:00 am. Breakfast at Hoffers in Helen and lunch in Highlands,NC. Dinner TBD.

First night dinner. Very good bbq.

It is possible to strap a watermelon on back seat. It is also possible to arrive at destination and find straps slid off but watermelon didn't.

And they're off. I had to bail and start heading home because off hip problems. Still had some great riding yesterday and it was nice to see old friends and meet some new ones.

Great to see most of you (you Nor who the exception is…) - great time.

I'm home and unloaded and relaxing. Hope all travel safe and see you in the fall.

Got home in time to meet my wife at church. Mostly sunny skies on way home and no hint of rain. Repeated start of Saturday's ride but went straight on 64 without turning north towards Tellico. (Bakery closed on Sundays anyway). Even less traffic than Saturday so great start to day.

Had a great time and already looking forward to September.

It was great to actually have an MP3 at the MP3 gathering again and great to have Sticky Frog return to the fold.

It was also great to welcome a new first timer and hopefully regular in RDHOOD and his family.

Thanks all! We had a great time, as usual. Vogel is one of our fav's... Such a fantastic State Park and beautiful area. The rides were fantastic. Although it was a bit hot on Friday, a few sprinkles cooled things down for some more, but cooler, great riding on Saturday. Thanks Cubs for the added Cooler Run with me.

Great to see some new faces, as well as having Sticky join us again. OAD was missed by all. Thanks to Fuzzy, as always!

We packed it up and left about 10... home at 11am. A couple from the trip:

Got home about 9:45pm after 735 miles and a good lunch at Buc-ees. A super event and Vogel is a great place for the Gathering.

Great to see Sticky again and NewDoug and family. I hope and pray all (and more) will be able to make the Fall Gathering at Hungary Mother State Park. Also a great place for a Gall Gathering.

OAD was sorely missed as was Phillip (where were you and the Silverwing?).
