Hi everyone!!
I am trying to figure out how to mount this wooden box to this rack. Any ideas would be appreciated since the rack only has one hole for a screw. Maybe those tube clamps?
I will be mounting it in an orange Vespa VXL (the ones made in india)

Thank you!
This is the box

This is the rack, maybe with those clamps?

The clamps should work fine. I would use 3 or 4 of them.

I second this. I used essentially the same method to mount a top bag to my GTV rack more securely than the straps that came with it. I put acorn nuts on the top side, to reduce the possibility of scratching anything in it.

You don't say if you want to mount it permanently or to be able to take it off at a picnic etc.

Would the box lid be able to slide forwards over the seat when mounted?
This would make it less likely to vibrate loose and fall off the back when riding.

Thirded. More clamps are better.

Rubber supports between the wood and the iron of the pipes otherwise you will have rubbing and rattling noises.

Get a used inner tube from the bicycle shop, cut out some rubber tube, use it between the clamp and the rack, you don't want metal on metal action. Or if you can't get a old tube then take some electrical tape and tape up the rack where you will have the clamps.
Both of those choices will make for a good clean squeak free solutions.
If you wish to get fancy, I'd spray the clamps with some coats of paint will prevent it from rusting too soon. Those clamps are made from mild steel and they will rust in short time and transfer that over to the rack, I have seen my rack get bit of rust where the bolts come in contact with it.

I wanted my basket to be easily removable so here's what I did. With your wine case, you could skip the piece of plywood I used. Everything I needed was at my local hardware store except the metric threaded long thumbscrew, which I finally found on Alibaba.

Some good suggestions here, the wine box reminded me of something from my youth!

My first motorcycle was a 60cc Bridgestone 2-stroke. Back then they had not come up with the oil injection systems like my RD400 I had later. I needed a way to carry extra oil with me and what I came up with was a small wine bottle that held just the right amount of oil to mix with one gallon of gas. I carried it on the rear luggage rack with a rubber strap around it.

Never had a problem till one time a police officer stopped me for a "routine traffic stop" I think he thought I was a Hells Angel what with that big 60cc bike! He did not like the looks of the wine bottle strapped to the luggage rack and "suggested" I find a different way to carry my oil!

When I used u-bolts to attach my bag, I just put Plastidip on the parts that would be expected to touch the chrome rack.

This reminds me of a really cool box my ex had... it was a small wooden dynamite crate. That would be an awesome addition to a bike, but he (understandably) wasn't interested in that possibility.

Didn't anyone notice that ValVitola selected clamps which already had integral rubber pads? (photo above)

I noticed the clamps appeared to have a coating. But it's not clear how thick it is, and others might check this thread in the future for solutions to similar ideas. I figured it would be helpful to mention how I made things work when I did it.

Wineboxes on Scooters.

I expect it would not be elegant or stylish to have winebox carriers with
brand names like Ripple or Mad Dog 20 20. This could become quite the
snobbish thing.

It is not a coating, it is a rubber pad. Local hardware stores around here stock this clamp. Perhaps they are not available in some areas.

Lol, I had not noticed it till after I had posted my solution. I don't think coated with plastic do a good job cuz the plastic tends to less malleable than rubber and therefore metal on metal with plastic in between doesn't always do a good job in my view.

I can imagine that would not be a good choice these days, might have the SWAT team pulling you over with weapons drawn Wha? emoticon

But ... The wood is in contact with the roof rack and the rubbing between two different materials damages the softer material. The rubberized clamps eliminate only the vibrations between the wooden crate and the iron roof rack.
