Hi I used to be an all weather biker
but my rebuilt GPz 750 doesnt llike the snow
How does an MP3 work in the snow?
What tyre would you suggest?
After my first 150m (wet) trip as a 6ft newbie just ordered an Airhawk
My Fuoco is ten yrs old but only 2,000 miles
any suggestions on stopping the alarm going off?
Starting and riding it for the first 5 metres with the alarm going off doesnt seem fair on the neighbours for my Sunday morning outing

The Triumph Tina rebuilt from a box of parts was the first "Twist and Go"scooter I ever owned, except it was not a reliable starter and you cant bump start a CVT

I am about to mount a Metzeler Wintec winter tire in a few weeks. I can report back after the tire has been run in and the cold stuff starts to come in.

If the bike has an alarm, it is likely to be an aftermarket item. Usually best to remove those things, and use a good quality chain (like Abus) with a padlock. See link below.

On my MP3, I just use the Piaggio bar end to seat frame lock. It is what came with the bike. If they really want to steal the bike, they can have it.

In the end, nothing is theftproof. But using a good deterrent that says "sod off" is the best message to a 10finger discount shopper.

How on earth did you manage a 150ml ride on the fuoco you must have cast iron bum The airhawk may help but your best bet would be to remodel your seat so you can sit lower and further back which will give you a better riding position. Have you got a after market alarm fitted? as my thoughts are that the horn sounding relates to the tilt lock. I'm assuming you fitted a brand new battery. No ideas on a winter tyres as i would no long ride in the snow not that we get much down here. I'm 75 mls south of you may be we could meet up one sunday for a thrash/chat. Abington/Bigger?

Ah, ok. I misinterpreted "alarm" for anti theft alarm.

IF it is the horn from the tilt lock going off, then you need to check the state of the fluid level, fluid condition, pressure switch, etc, etc, etc. The tilt lock the older bikes are problematic and showing serious signs of aging.

yes its obviously the tilt lock - will do the fluid checks as suggested

just ordered a graphite gasket for the silencer

i must say I quite liked the little backfires - reminded me of my 3TA with its single baffle Thruxton "silencers" oh it had a 4 leading shoe front brake and a Cibie headlight
survived a a coach bolt through the back tyre at 65 mph on Ace handlebars
the backfires were due to a burnt out valve - that was my first minor engine overhaul half a century ago. Was heartened to discover that the prvious Fuoco owner hung up his helmet at 91

I will follow up the lock suggestions as recently had my eMTB stolen

Was out with the Biggar Ramblers yesterday, happy to meet up at the wee cafe in Broughton or at Wiston Lodge

(took my walking gear and folding poles in the Fuoco -it really is a good load carrier)

Wiston Lodge never been there, possibly this coming sunday or the sunday after but not 100% .
