So I'm a rookie on a scooter, admittedly. The 2006 LX150 I bought over the summer is in pretty good shape, but because the roads in Los Angeles are in dire need of maintenance (that, and I could stand to lose 20 lbs ) I realized my front shock needed replacing. Every bump was a hard slam and it felt like I was gonna break the whole front end apart sometimes. I'm not THAT overweight, just the extra pandemic pounds. It's just that i have nothing to compare my Vespa to - this is the only scooter I've ever ridden. Ordered a normal stock Vespa one from Scooter Parts Co. - not high-performance or anything. Night and day difference! I guess 15 years was enough for the original one. Fair price and fast shipping from Scooter Parts Co too - I think it was 75 bucks. Well worth it!

I can't wait to hear your report on the difference if any, the new shock makes.

Well, I rode 20 miles yesterday morning and it was a big improvement. I feel like it handled better - maybe some of that is just in my head. But it DEFINITELY managed rough roads a lot better. I shoulda had it done sooner!

Good to hear.....nice when you take a gamble on something being better and it works out!

I'm questioning the same on my '07. Our roads aren't always the greatest either....

As a veteran rider of Vespas in downtown Toronto on what has to be some of the most torn up roads in the country I can attest to the benefits of performance shocks. Not only do they help make the bumps more forgiving they do absolutely plant you better. This is especially true on the freeway at high speeds.

Glad the shock is making a difference and you are happy with it. The first things I do when buying a new Vespa is replace the exhaust and add Bitubos front and rear.

I'm too new to all this to start making recommendations, and I know folks on here go for the performance aftermarket shocks, but for less than the cost of one Bitubo you can get both Piaggios.

Thanks Harbinger! Yeah, I initially wanted the snazzy Bitubos but this new Piaggio shock is SO much better than the 16 year old played-out number I had on there - next time I replace the rear tire I'm gonna order one for the back. Plus? Like a lot of people I lost my job in March of 2020 so I don't have much of a wallet to swing around.
