I'd certainly like to think so. Of course, Piaggio is teetering a bit between the proverbial Devil and the Deep Blue Sea here: A scooter that doesn't require a full-on MC license, while other companies pop up with cheaper rides that match the performance but undercut the price by a large chunk (but, build quality?). I think they'll "up" things a bit, but I also think a second model will need to enter the mix.

I predict not in 2022.
I say this 'cause I haven't heard anything about Piaggio showing a new model at trade show etc. (not that I listen hard for such info) in the next few years? like maybe 2024/2025 reasonable chance. They definitely have to have a worthy GTS rival before petrol bikes are banned in various places ... |

Rumor is that they doubled the distance. The charging cord was a meter long, so they're making it two meters long, effectively doubling he distance you can be from an outlet. There is talk of a three meter cord by 2037.

With the current speed and range it's pretty well suited to around town commuting. I expect like usual any improvements will be incremental, not earth shattering.

The update to the Elettrica that i would like to see would be the ability to customise the ECU i'd like to be able to trade mph or acceleration for range - sometimes my commute is busier than other times as I work shifts - a sportier performance in busier times would be desirable .

There is talk of a three meter cord by 2037. About two years ago we had an ambitious character in our area who extended the range of his cheap Chinese electric scooter by mounting a portable electric generator on the floorboard. Kind of a charge on the go idea. Put a sound system on it as well. A for effort, although I'm pretty sure it was a Honda generator which cost more than the scooter itself so you need to question his sanity as well. ⚠️ Last edited by Fritz Katzenjammer on UTC; edited 1 time

Unless you are asking 100% in normal mode and 150% in sport mode in which case, I don't believe it is possible, without damaging something.. |

I am sure that if we try hard we will arrive at more efficient results. It just takes time ....

From all the battery hype we are hearing it seems we will in the not too distant future be able to buy a decent scooter or motorcycle that will not only be fast, but give us a range of 150 miles or more on one charge. Then it will charge fully up from 10% to 100% in just 2 to 8 mins depending what capacity charger is used. The actual timescale for this may be closer than you think but the industry thinks from 2025 onwards technology for this will significantly improve. Given the progress made in the last 6-7 years on Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries and the speed of charging they now offer, I don't doubt any of that.

I hope so, someone on another thread said that we will all be dead within 15 years before we see significant progress.
