Morning.
I've not been on the site for quite some time but remained a distant UK lurker.
I'm considering moving from my GTV and buying a MP3 500 I'd value opinion on the newer HPE against and older model .
Appreciate the differences, but I've read varying reports on sites re.the HE engine on GTS particularly high oil usage and potential for seizing.
I'd value opinions/experience of the HPE

HPE 500 is pretty much the same hat as the old IE500, except tuned to meet Euro5 emissions and noise regulations.

The only variant that has not proven itself due to being recently introduced is the Sport Advanced model with reverse gear. Technically just a electric high torque starter motor strapped to the rear hub but has some different parts over the normal (without reverse) variants.

Besides that, it's pretty much all the same highs and lows.

I'd buy a used one (old type )to see if you could put up with all the silly niggles that the mp3/fuoco's have and before lashing out on a brand new piaggio. Have a ride on some of the other scooters bmw, honda, yamaha ,suzuki ect.

I had a 2019 IE Sport and then got a 2020 HPE. The HPE has more power. Not enough to make a great deal of difference, but enough to feel.

Hi thanks for the advice.

I've had had a number of maxi scooters (and bikes) previously including Piaggio X9, BMW C600 although currently riding a GTV300.
The main attraction as I grow more decrepit is the stability 3 wheels offer especially through the winter that and an opportunity to get a new bike with reasonable part exchange against the Vespa, countering the attraction is the potential reliability issues that accompany newer developments that and no 'local' Piaggio dealers. much to ponder.
