So after much deliberation and parting ways with Donatello Vespacci and Voltaire (my 2018 Chevrolet Volt), I got this, a 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range All Wheel Drive. It is stupidly quick - quicker than my Corvette ever was.

It is a lot of fun to have with your cloths still on, LOL.

Congrats!

Is charging a pain? I seem to remember you saying you lived in a condo? But I guess you've got it worked out if you previously drove a Volt.

No prob. Just using the J-1772 to Tesla adapter and Nikola is very happy. I may eventually sell my Sun Country charger and have a Tesla one installed.

Neat! What's the range on a Model 3 "Long Range"? And if you have access to a fast charger, how long does it take to top off a battery that is, say, 75% depleted?

Teslas are the only thing in San Francisco that beat my HPE off the line at a stop light.

I have the LR AWD Dual Motor. It has a stated range of 568KM so I think this translates to about 334 miles? I have 1,000 miles of free charging on the superchargers and it supposedly takes 30min to fully top off the battery up to 300 miles/500 Km's.

I was getting on 280 North at DeAnza several years ago, riding my BMW R12R. It has enormously fast acceleration, and getting on a freeway is a place where I generally use that acceleration to its fullest, so I was a bit surprised when the car next to me pulled past me and zoomed onto 280 ahead of me. I squinted through my dirty visor, and it became apparent what had happened.

"Oh", I said. "Fucking Tesla".

Thanks for being part of the solution!! πŸ‘πŸ½

Tesla is on my list of e-cars if I ever get another car. Ms Miguel and I combined only drive a few K miles a year so it doesn't make sense for us to trade our cars yet but I'm a big believer.

Good on you! Miguel

Here, as electric-only cars, the Renault Zoe and also the Kia and Hiunday are very popular.

Thank you Migs,
This is my 3rd EV. My last 2 were Chevrolet Volts 2015 then a 2018. I mostly drive electric and would end up spending less than $200/yr on fuel.

Very very nice Soul Surfer! Tesla have done some good things. We see loads of them over here in the Uk. Over here 'Podpoint' who provide home car chargers also provide FREE public charging facilities too. Wonder if that will happen over there at some point. Currently at the top of the tree over here is Kia E Niro and Hyundai EV's. My bro in law has E Niro and gets around 350 miles in urban use and around 285miles in more normal everyday use including motorways on a single charge. A 15 min fast charge puts around 120-140 miles in 'the tank' depending on ambient temperature. I'm guessing yours will be about the same too. Please report back on how you get on with it. Enjoy!

That's really good. After 334 miles behind the wheel, I'd welcome a 30min stretch of the legs.
