Can anybody help? I just put on a new drive belt and variator. My Vespa still won't start. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Is your small earth wire at front edge of the transmission case attached ok and not loose, had this happen to mine as bolt was a fraction to long and left the earth cable very slightly loose so it wouldn't make good contact also the frame bolt check and clean cable ends if not already done so.
Hope that helps.

Wait...That's stupid on my part. If it turns over it isn't the kill switch. Sorry.

Edit: I retract the part about the kill switch, but not the part that Rickster333 is not stupid. Hopefully the triple negative is crystal clear here.

No, not stupid. The kill switch only kills the spark. The engine will turn over all day with the kill switch off.

sounds like you assembled something incorrectly or knocked something loose.

did you drop the engine down or lift the body to do the belt?

besides the belt, did you do anything else in the process of replacing or any other repairs?
