Modern Vespa

I am officially a scooter owner once again, after 7 years without.

Yesterday I rode my 2010 Vespa GTS Super 300ie home. What a blast to ride again.

I had a 25 mile ride home from Akron, some of which was through beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The original owner was sad to see it go, but happy I was going to take good care of it and enjoy riding it.

I'm really looking forward to more riding, and seeing what this scooter can do. It's a substantial change in specs from the Genuine Buddy 125 I had before (which I loved btw).

It's good to be back.

Welcome back lobsterman. The GTS looks in great condition for its age. I don't know how you survived 7 years without a scooter!

There are legitimate reasons for going seven years without a scooter:

Coma
Jail time
Working on the ISS
Service on a submarine

I've gone only a few months and I'm getting antsy; I can't imagine 7 years.

If you're on Facebook, look for a group called VespOhio. There is another club active in the Cleveland Area called Mighty Scooters of Ohio - Cleveland.

Looks great, especially in white. Wednesday was a great day in NEO to ride it home. Hope we have a few more nice ones before Lake Effect sets in…

Great to see a 2010 GTS being enjoyed, welcome (not sure back is necessary cuz I did not notice you were gone).
On the 2010 GTS 300, things you may replace are the rollers for sliders and the shocks and bushings for them. Other than that any changes etc would at best be cosmetic.
Think performance wise you going to see it s huge improvement on the Buddy for one it is a bigger engine but other than too, the ride quality is going to be better and the GTS300 has heft compared to the Buddy and so you won't get blown off on windy roads easily.

Ha! None of the above, but there were legitimate reasons at the time. After that the timing wasn't right, but now it is.

It's only got 1255 miles on it.

Mostly what I noticed was the difference in power. On the Buddy 125, usually I pegged the throttle off the line, and if going up a hill or a 50mph road, kept it pegged. I haven't pegged the throttle yet on this, and it went up hills and hit 55 quite easily.

I've done a similar thing, although my abstinence stretched for over 25 years from when I gave away my beloved P200

And to think, the five months it took to get Melody back on the road, post-crash, was a slice of fresh hell for me…

Congrats on the new ride, and welcome back, even though it appears you "left" a bit before I arrived here.

I see you live down the shore. I was born and raised in NJ, lived mostly in Morris County until I was almost 40. Now I live in NE Ohio where the housing prices make more sense but it's tough to find good pizza.

Nice! Welcome back! I used to go to Akron a couple times a year for work from Toronto (worked for Goodyear). I'm hoping to ride down that way to see all my old work friends. I'll wave as I pass

Cleveland. Pizza.... 40 years ago I spent a lot of time in the Mayfield Village area. My favorite pizza place was Pizzazz on Som Center Road. Last time I was there was probably the mid 90s. Great restaurant and great people!

Ha! I was there a couple of weeks ago - first time since the start of COVID. Went to their store at Fairmount/Warrensville Center Circle (by John Carroll University). They are still there and still have great food…. Drove my scooter that day, about a 60 mile round trip.
