Hey,
What is the right way to check the oil level?
Should the dipstick be screwed/unscrewed all the way in/out before checking the level or should it be checked by just letting the dipstick rest on top?

My manual is translated horribly to my language and im afraid i've been running to much oil after the last maintenance..

Thank you and ride safe!

Screwed all the way in to get a proper reading. If you just rest it on top, and the oil is already topped up to full (checked by screwing it all the way in), the very tip of the dipstick will show a trace of oil. If more than that is covered, you've over-filled.

You are 100% right!
My mechanic over filled my engine and gave me the wrong instructions..
My manual doesn't mention how to check the oil level properly but after visiting the manual site on your profile, i did saw that Piaggio recommend to do it as you said.

Thanks a lot, sir. I hope i didn't damaged my engine riding it a little over filled for a few miles. Facepalm emoticon

You may have spewed some excess oil into the air filter - so it might be worth opening that up and checking. Otherwise no damage should have resulted. Change your mechanic or DIY from now on!
