Really well built moped. Not many of these in the US, but a few more made there way over from Spain recently. So many very Vespa like features. Rotary intake, Engine/swing arm, variated, look at how easy that rear wheel is to take off, and of course the headset.

It's the familiar 'usual' speedo that does it for me, I love that red zone to keep me strictly in line

Nice! Love the handlebars, part 50 Special. And reminds me the newer Piaggio Velofax. I regret selling mine years ago. It was a little kitted monster and fun to ride in heavy traffic. Still trying to find one, I need to travel to Italy. Not very popular in Greece…

I had a Velofax and a Vespino F18 at one point. Defiantly part of the late model Vespino line.

I am a spaniard and I lived in Spain from 72 to 95. I recall vividly seeing hundreds of vespinos on the streets through the years. I particularly have seen this specific model everywhere specifically on the countryside as being a very popular transportation for farmers, also for high school students because you only need to be 14 years old to ride them and also for lower financial class because it was a very cheap means of transportation.
What you have is one of the best sellers as far is scooters. They made a facelift of that vespino with lighter wheels and a more modern speedometer with green, yellow and red type of facecover (green was lower speed, red was close to max speed). If I could find one I would buy it in a heartbeat. It was very popular to do a 70cc cylinder kit and put a expansion chamber and different pulley. You scored!! that is all I have to say.

Awesome. I lived in Spain when I was 15. Every 15 year old wanted a Vespino. It was the king of the mopeds. Yours looks like it's in great condition, congrats.

That little small black plastic lever on the left side of the headset was to either start the moped when you pedaled it or to turn it off. I think it was to turn it on.
The lever pulled a cable and a valve inside the cylinder. I have seen them the other way around were the lever would actually do the opposite too by opening a valve on the combustion chamber and letting the air out thus killing the engine. |

I have a Motovespa Delta that shares alot with your Gilera, I sent you a link on MA but Vespino.ES is a godsend. |

Nice, it would be nice to pool together some Vespino resources.
Have you had any luck getting Vespino.ES to ship to the US? I mostly go through Blake at Dos Cycles. The easiest way I have found for getting parts out of Spain is to ship to an intermediary person. I snagged a crank from ebay when I rebuilt that black and red Gilera GSA I sold. I have a spare Gilera GSA engine and some spare motoplat CDI stuff. I also have a conrod for rebuilding a GSA/SC/NL... crank. Which Gilera do you have? Any pictures of the Delta or Gilera? |

Yeah, I sold mine to Devon. I think they have another parts bike at Dos. I do have some GSA specific engine parts.

vespino.es had no problem shipping to me pre-pandemic when I as ordering a few odds and ends for my F18 (RIP, probably sitting in horsehead bay), but you have to send a money order to get stuff.
I am actually going to need to order some trim bits and clutch springs for my Delta pretty soon, can follow up on shipping direct. As you know, I get most/any/all parts that I can from DOS, and most of my bikes come from there. Heck, even got my smallframe came from Tyler.
Here's the one photo I have of the Delta without the plastics stripped for move to my current place in CT.

Let me know how that goes ordering parts from Vespino.ES this time.
What size are the wheels on the Delta, that looks slick. |

"Trying to find the pedal arms for this bike has proved hard though."
That seems to be the case on any "scooter" with pedals. I don't think I have seen a Derbi DS50 with both pedals yet. Does the Delta have the F9 style reed valve motor or is it rotary intake? |

Yeah, the Delta shares the reed valve motor on the NL+ style bikes. Sadly, it has the 2-bolt intake which is more notorious for leaks, but i can always drill and tap the other 2 in the case.
For now just doing a mild build on the Delta, in process of doing seals/gaskets, and finding out if it has an aftermarket topend. If it's stock, I may put my old F18 stock top end on there, which is rated for 3.5 hp. |
