Was just getting ready to put in the 4 piece (or is it 17 piece) cage bearing when I decided to look it up on this forum and found some info that made me think WTF...

Here's how I thought it should go (couldn't find in manuals)

1. Insert the cage and rollers in the race (fun to do, until one scoots away and your wife gets pissed while helping you find it). Also, how the hell you'd do that if you greased it up beforehand, I would never know.

2. Pack the bearing with some grease...got some synthetic stuff that should work fine.

3. Put the "washer" on the it (mine was slight magnetized which holds the washer...either genius idea or the part was stored by magnets)

4. Heat the case (maybe freeze the bearing) and it should just pretty much push in pretty easy. And viola...

But after reading a little bit on here, I got a headache and decided to drink instead. Am I overlooking something?

That's the one that made me go have a drink when they talked about putting the rollers and cage in AFTER pressing in the races...which makes no sense at all to me, but ya never know.

Zachyzach's method is close enough to what I'm doing...I'll just go for it.

Thanks! This might just be the liquor talking, but why pay someone $10 or $20 to use their press, when I can dig out some scrap wood and my small bottle jack and bodabing Bob's your second cousin twice removed.

If, in the future, someone comes upon this thread...the moral of this lesson is:
1. Don't take it out unless you absolutely have to...
2. If you do, which I regretting doing due to my hubris, use a press to get it back in...

Just saying...
