Notice lately that my smallframe 100 Sport seems to rev louder and have less power than normal, but seems to run better with the choke on. I also notice a rattling sound coming from somewhere. When the lean it over, the exhaust kind of has some play, like it moves, and it seems like the rattling might be coming from that.. It's pretty much impossible to see the exhaust manifold with the engine in the bike. Looks like I'm gonna have to drop the engine and assess, no?

Hope I haven't damaged it by running it this way!

Don't drop the motor entirely. Prop the scooter up, remove the carb and rear tire, leave everything else connected and then disconnect the rear shock and swing arm bolt. The motor will drop down and you'll be able to access the exhaust/manifold.

If anything's loose, regoop any gaskets with RTV silicone and re tighten everything in there. Then get a buddy to help you reinstall the swingarm bolt and you can do the rest.

Oh wow, great tip. Thanks.

Do you NEED a friend to help with this? I typically work on all this stuff alone.

Removal no, reinstallation it'll really help, but might be manageable solo.
