Modern Vespa

A friend gave me a Vespa yesterday to restore. However, I am baffled by the frame number: VLB1T 1994425. According to Scooterhelp it is a 1973 Sprint. But the Sprints were only built up to 1971 and the chassis numbers stopped at 150 000.

So which Vespa is this? The horn is affixed with 3 screws, and it uses the large Piaggio hexagon.

It looks like it might be a 1974 (if there's an extra number in there).

Looks like they were made up to 1979. Definitely there were new ones in 1977. They were replaced by the P Series.

Mystery solved: I was looking for original colour codes, and on this website https://www.vespaclub.com/modelli-vespa it shows that the Sprints were made up to chassis number 1205477.

If someone can advise Scooterhelp to update their info, it would be appreciated.

how is the headlight? rounded or trapezoidal?

No headset and light, but I will fit the trapezoidal.

Is the engine original and does it have three ports and a 20/20 carb? If it's a Veloce, you'll want the Rally style headset to be correct

Yes, the engine is 2P, thus a Sprint.

VIN makes it a 1974 Sprint V. That would also explain the hexagon badge...
Maybe the engine's not original to the frame??

The Sprint chassis numbers went from 01 001 to 1 205 477, and the Sprint Veloce went from 150 001 to 294 169, thus this body must be a Sprint with chassis number 1 194 425.

No, definitely a 1. But according to the website https://www.vespaclub.com/modelli-vespa the Sprint chassis numbers went up to 1205477. And they do not mention a Vespa model with chassis prefix VLB2T. And neither does SIP.

This is really strange.

I think it must be a mistake on https://www.vespa.name/vin-number 's side, since Scooterhelp does not list a chassis starting with VLB2T either.
