It sounds like it'll be a good performer, but, I think it is ugly.

Plus with the torque it likely has off the line with a 30 KW motor, good luck keeping from sliding backwards on that plank-flat seat.

Vespa's next electric should be GTS-e with a 20kw motor, top speed of 75 MPH, and at least 60 miles of range.

That's the tough sell on electrics for sure.

Top of the line Zero SRF or SRS is $20k. There are a lot of very nice motorcycles in that price range (and a lot less money too).

The Vespa Electrica is a 50cc performing scooter (maybe partway between a 50cc and a 125cc) for the price of a GTS 300.

I'd take the GTS.

I owned a BMW C650. It was a fine performer but very heavy and quite expensive to maintain. My BMW dealer made every effort to disparage scooters even though I was a motorcycle customer also. I suspect that BMW dealers are not all that interested in scooters much as Harley dealers are not all that interested in small displacement motorcycles, JMO...

60 mile range?

I won't buy a bike with less range than my current Supertech. I don't want to give up touring

60 mile range fits my use-case for a scooter just fine. I use motorcycles for touring.

That said, the GTS would be fine for touring, but, I prefer 200+ mile range on my touring bikes, vs. the 120 or so I can get out my GTS before I really need few.

120miles (193km), hmm. I get plenty more than that with my HPE when touring but maybe not radically different when riding around the city.

longest I've done on a tank when touring is 269km (167miles). I usually average 32km/l in the country. But I only assume 220-230km (137-243miles)

That's what long-range gas tanks are for.

I have toured on the GTS extensively, both with and without a long-range gas tank. While longer range is preferable, I can only think of a handful of places in the US on paved roads where the limited range of the GTS was a problem. Offroad, yes, absolutely. But the GTS is not particularly suited to off-road use.

It's a very fair point when you compare what you could by with the same money.

My feeling is that even though it's a brave effort I fear that it's going to go the same way as the Livewire and the Zero.

It's another over priced niche product that show's what a manufacturer can produce but very few people will actually buy especially when battery longevity is still a concern.
