It was for sale a bunch of times in North East LA, and now it's for sale again, but without the motor...

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/atq/d/los-angeles-1974-vespa-gt-no-motor/7404560245.html

It was too much $$ for me back then, and for just the frame, it still is, but I like the look....

That my friends GT. Nice scoot. Dont see many GT's here in the states. May be priced too high (with OR without engine), but it IS a nice example for the right person.

I thought maybe that was the motovespa posted a few months back with a p200 engine?
Sent an email but hadn't heard back. It probably is too spendy even if it is the MV GT160 frame.

If you are really interested, let me know. I'll put you in direct contact and I'd think he will make a deal since it's been for sale so long... for real. I just had a new project picked up from my friend yesterday - let me know

Dangit BN! I go away from the computer for four hours and you swoop in! Crying or Very sad emoticon

I LOVE the legshield, and have been watching this for a while. Im going south in a week or so and was thinking I may be able to pick it up. "May" is the key word in that statement. Still a bit too spendy.

Hey BN, thanks so much for the phone conversation earlier. In delving deeper into my own scene, and looking at the possible purchase of this scooter, I've realized that now is not the time to be buying another project.

So please, move forward with getting this sweet MV GT. I just love the legshield and will be watching what you do with it from the sidelines!

And thanks GL for the phone call also. You guys are my scooter brothers!

Peace

Great chatting and sorting with you guys.
G-man is gonna go eyeball it for team NSM, but Jeremy seemed super straight on the phone. So I suspect the deal will make.
Hats off to Scott J for the heads up and Scott/qascooter for deciding it wasn't his ideal deal.

Gracias Jesse for being the fixer.

This will be a back burner project, but I have a great engine candidate (vsd) thanks to Voodoo and will be stoked to get to it after the SS is done. (Insert - back from paint joke here _____.)

Oh and *Ahem… White P200 is all sorted now for sale.* (Gotta pay for the motovespa frame somehow)

I honestly couldn't be happier that this is working out! Team NSM for the win!!!

You guys are (all) rad dudes! I love getting the right scooters into the proper hands, and it seems like this was the perfect fit. Seller is a straight shooter, and good guy all around.Win-Win-Win-Win!

it was a joint effort. I knew birds has been on the hunt for one of those beasts forever and the timing and price just worked out. I just happened to be close and was happy to go have a look-see and was able to transpo and I've got the room to store it for when he's ready to get it to him. working with Jeremy was super easy as well, very accommodating schedule wise. we'd done some stuff before so knew each other and he's just a really great guy.

so anyway, if somebody needs something looked at and stored for a hot minute and I'm able to help just let me know, I'd be more than happy to do so.

(btw, I'm totally putting my T5 motor in that thing this weekend and riding it around and farting all over the seat *evil laughter*)

I would expect nothing less.

Again, thanks to all the NSM folks that made this happen.

Terry, sorry I didn't save any… maybe G-man will snap some pics next time he is at the warehouse.
It will make a good home for your Rally 180 lump. Lots of tasty weirdness on the MV GT frames.

Double Extra Bonus points shout out to Greasy125 for rolling down IRL to seal the deal and evacuate the ol spaniard to holding quarters. I'm really happy for you to say those things about Jeremy. I feel the same way. Super great guy, so win-win-win for everyone.

Congratulations! Great scooter. Should you need info about Motovespa GT, please ask.
A 1974 GT will have a frame number 09C starXXXXXXstar. They looked like the picture. Original colors were orange (most of them), red, metallic gold. The one showed has crest & rear light for Motovespa 160 (1968-72), previous type but same scooter with older outfit (chrome) and different colors (only blue first years, then blue and orange; no helmet hook). Both of them used the femsatronic ignition but piston ported 161cc. engine. Dellorto UA19S1 carb. (a son of a bixxx!).

Thanks!! Appreciate the info.
Where is the frame number stamped? Same spot as other largeframes of the same era... (Frame above/behind engine?)

Also, I have read different things on GT legshield trim. Not inox but just a chrome style trim on some and pressed aluminum on others. Have read that Primavera aluminum will fit pretty close to the original used on the tapered leg shield. Can you confirm?

Lastly, any info on sourcing a paint match for the light blue or the gold metallic?

As much as I like the color of a mid 80's Buick sedan... I am a fan of stock colors.
That said, IDK if I will paint it or not... I have yet to see it in person and it will also depend on where my head is at when I get to the project. (After the 5 months of waiting on the SS180 I may never outsource paint on another scoot again. And lord knows my skillset doesn't qualify me for a full paint job)

Original is a chromed "3/4 of a pipe", screwed to the shield. Mine is not the good size, but looks the same as the original.
