so, I got this malossi 135 in a parts lot. I think there's a head around here somewhere for it and maybe a piston. but I was more concerned about whatever the ham-fisted porting pro was up to with this thing and if it's even salvageable. thoughts? concerns? ideas?
You know a lot more than me, and the fact you are asking makes me think the best advice is bin it.
Maybe you could rescue it, but the time spent on that would be better spent on something that was good to start with. And how much is a new malossi 135 top end? It's not like its something exotic that costs an absolute fortune.
If you can get the base surface fixed. Turned on a lathe to be flat again. Everything else is fixable. Running reeds, there is probably a lot of tuning not done to that. Rest is fixable.
Assume you have the gear to hone it and see if the piston is ok without a re-bore.
If it needs a new piston its junk.
