Yikes!
I'll also chime in with relief that your injuries weren't too severe. I've been very briefly conked out in an accident too... it's pretty easy to do even with a mild hit and a good helmet. Definitely feels weird. So bummed to see Melody's injuries. I'll have a moment of silence for her. She was a good bike. |

Meanwhile: Remains Of the Day(s)
How it's gone so far: - Got police report a few days ago: somewhat inconclusive, partly on account of not having my input. Made appointment to talk to officer who wrote up report. - Met with officer late yesterday to go over report: even he admits driver's statement of what happened was a bit weird, but between him and two anonymous witnesses, there isn't a lot that can be done, but he did take down my description of events, and will amend report. - Just came back from shop that has my bike, and made arrangements for adjuster to check things out. Compiled list of third-party components for compensation. - Going to my dealer's Christmas party tomorrow, to hobnob, chat about What Happened, and ogle over/discuss new GTS'. Then head off to my local club's event at a pizzeria in town a bit later on. Might not have room for dinner afterward. - Feeling a bit less pain with each passing day, and in a reasonably decent mood, if not particularly upbeat. Life gets better, and all that. Rolling Wounded: They say misery loves company. I respectfully disagree.
Remembrances: My E-ZPass is mounted behind the "tie" (P.S., that location doesn't work well). Not the only reason I removed it.
Looking Forward, I: In the color I'd like…(2020 SuperTech)
Looking Forward, II: …and the color I'll likely settle for. (2022 SuperTech)

Glad to hear you're only mildly scathed from it all; may it be your last brush with the road! |

When I first saw it, I was rather "meh" about it, wondering if Piaggio was trying a bit too hard to stay up-to-the-nanosecond with other bike (not to mention automobile) companies; didn't this dilute the Vespa DNA just a bit? But the more I looked into it, the more I came to like in terms of sheer functionality: much more info on the bike's vital signs, a (potentially) less-ambiguous speedo, and, yeah, Bluetooth. I'd been planning to buy a BT module for Melody at some point, so now I get the chance to simply have it built-in, with a TFT display to boot. The only other lingering issue was the paint finish: just like the Super Sport series this year, you can have any finish you like, as long as it's matte. But the black matte - 'scuse me, Nero Convinto Matt - had also grown on me, especially with that yellow accent on the horn cover. Let's see what happens. All He Wants for Christmas...or New Year's...or Birthday. (Whatever...just Make It So.)

Just noticed this thread - auts and then good to hear you're healing well!
I've always liked the looks of your Melody, glossy black with the short screen... all in all a very stylish looking scoot. So sad to see it gone. ... and, moving on , that new matte black one does look really nice too, would not be a bad replacement at all! |

(Except my riding jacket, which they decided to keep intact, in part because it's too tough to cut through...which of course was why I wore it.) My cheap-but-just-sturdy-enough Bilt riding sneakers got pretty torn up, however...but they did their job, too. I saw your helmet too. While I always wear one (PA is a helmet optional state), I always feel that your feet are more likely to be hurt in an accident than your head. |

I also prefer the aesthetic of the analog gauge.
The Beverly has an LCD display that certainly shows more info than my GTS. I couldn't figure out how to pair it to my phone though, so I missed that part of the experience. Could certainly be interesting to have more information about e.g. fuel consumption and the factors that impact it. |

In terms of riding, 2021 personally sucked, but I'm cautiously stoked for next year. Meanwhile, I'm basking in holiday cheer…helped in no small part by youse guys & gals here. More news as it comes, including that all-important naming of the new ride when it finally arrives. Another view: As mentioned, this one was sold before it even hit the dealer's floor…that's how fast they're selling. I should catch one soon enough. And yes, it's damned pretty.

Meanwhile: Went up to Gotham yesterday to visit Le Wife's long-time acupuncturist for a once-over. He's seriously good: I left with a few more aches than I came in with (always the case with deep-tissue bodywork…it's not just about sticking you like the stereotypical voodoo doll). Feeling a bit better today as a result, but I think it'll be another week before I'm feeling anything close to full-strength. Steady as she goes, so far. At the Acupuncturist: "It's only a model."

Best wishes to you and your family for Xmas and a better new year. On this front: Melody has been officially scratched from the "viable" list (sadly…avatar has been updated thus), and a value has been assessed (not too bad, because Vespa), and several parts of the jigsaw puzzle are yet to be properly placed, but we're getting closer; probably no action on the new ride till just after New Year's Day, which is just as well. (New year, new ride, not-quite-so-new me.) Have a new name in mind for the bike: not completely settled on it, but it'll still be musically related, directly or indirectly. Had second session with Acupuncturist yesterday: session was predictably heavier-duty than the first time, with electricity thrown into the mix, a first for me. (Fascinating and slightly freaky.) Spent more time dodging delivery e-bikes/e-scooters than in the past, on top of a "police activity" event on the NJ Transit train going into Gotham yesterday morning (from an altercation between a train conductor and a passenger refusing to pay). The new ride can't arrive soon enough, I'll tell you. ⚠️ Last edited by amateriat on UTC; edited 1 time

My daughter and her boyfriend from Brooklyn are visiting now.
They got in at around 3:00AM today. They drove their truck this time instead of flying. Unfortunately, the truck has a topper. Otherwise, I would offer for them to take one of my scooters, probably Vanessa, to you for use until you get the new one. Then I could fly up in the spring for another big ride with Kylie, then ride it home. But it is not to be. Dumb topper. Bill
