So it's time to hook up my electrical now that I am reassembling my 1978 VBC. Basic 6V system - Siem head light and tail light, horn, brake. The previous owner installed a basic key switch that opens and closes a circuit (need a key to start the scoot).

Which circuit (color) does this get wired into. My rookie guess is red prior to coil.

What do the experts say?

Got a pic of the headset and stator? A pic of the whole scooter would be nice, too... we love pictures.

Here you go.

Switch was installed on body.

Put the wires from my new loom (From Italy) next to it along with the wires coming from the switch.

so eliminate the red wire to the coil and replace it with the non-grounded switch wire?

So in looking at the wiring diagram, it would be set it up like the kill switch. Once ground is introduced into the red circuit, the scoot is dead.

I think I broke the code.
