Modern Vespa

I have a 2010 Vespa LX 150. Never had any issues since I purchased it new in 2010 - until today. I put the ignition key in and the column would not turn. I tried over and over again. I even got the spare new key which came with my Vespa and that did not work either.
The battery should be good since I changed it just a month ago and purchased it from my Vespa dealership.
One thing I noticed is the little light that usual blinks continually was not blinking. I think it is the security device.
Does anyone know what may be the problem?

Was this at home (garaged) or elsewhere where someone might have tampered with it?

The LED - when did you last ride it?

It is in apartment garage and is possible that someone has tampered with it. I did not see any signs of that.
I rode it about a week ago.

OK - the LED goes off ~48 hours after the last time the bike was switched on, so that's OK.

Try pulling the bars as hard as possible over to the left as you try to turn the key - but don't force it!

jimc is right. Happens to my on occasion, and it's always a surprise.
