Modern Vespa

Anyone else have to park their scoot for the winter and feeling those winter blues?

My commute takes me up above 4000' over a mountain at 8AM - this week has days where 36 is the high. Lots of turns, ice, and dummy drivers. Add snow to that, and over-eager transportation workers dumping LOADS of cinder into the road to be sprayed up in the undercarraige and it's just asking for that GTS frame rust. Ergo, over the weekend I thoroughly washed, waxed, shined, fuel stabilized, tendered, etc. and it's under its heavy duty Scooter West cover on the covered patio until conditions improve.

I figured this year would be less of a bummer because I hadn't just got it and have done an easy 8k miles since last winter. Not so much. That's all.

Yeah, I am feeling it too. I stowed Mrs. spacedog's and mine a few weeks back. Since then I have ordered some parts for the spring, and browsed the used Vespa daily, wondering if my wife would notice if the kitchen table was replaced by another scooter.

Not to rub salt into wounds but, Gigi is getting bedazzled with lights tomorrow!

Not at all! Happy to hear tales of scooter joy at this dark time.
I will say—relative to salted wounds and bedazzling—that it seems a cruel trick that it was at its most shiny and polished in order to NOT ride it.

Here in Southern Ontario I'm still getting the occasional day out.

Last week we had two days well over freezing and so rode the wheels off both bikes. This week? Sub zero! And there's a 50 mph wind blowing outside tonight to boot.

Next week is supposed to be back above freezing again.

And sunny...

I'm so confused, but I'll take every riding day I can.

I love living in the South. We've been in the 70s for the last two weeks. I bought some nice snowboard overalls to keep my legs warm and it's been too hot to wear them.
PS....That engine bay looks great! Uncover that girl occasionally and give her some love. Warm weather will be here before you know it.

We got - 17 degree Celsius right now.... that's 1,4 in Fahrenheit.

So yeah, I feel you

In my area, it's so cold I may zip the wind lining into my mesh jacket or just close my helmet vents.
It's a nice break from the heat.

Snowing and below freezing here in Frost Bite Falls Minnesota.

All my scoots are down for a long Winters Nap.

The last 10 days or so, our high temps have usually been 40F (5C), but, yesterday was 60F (16C). It was damp and misty all day, but, I still pulled out the VespaLectric to run a few errands. Better than nothing, right!
