Never mind. The fork sold for almost $500 and the arm $210. I should part out my bike!

I would like to know if the front swing arm is different or just not machined like a VNA1? They left the damper off but did they make an entire new part or just not finish the damper parts?

The front swingarm's on Allstate/Vespas are different parts with different castings.

Here's a link to read Damped fork for Allstate I'll probably be swapping out my 8" VB1 fork assembly for a 10" 20mm PK. A disc brake conversion is in the works for my VB1 scooter.

Scooterwest has the whole assembly for $350.

It's Bajaj, though. They also have NOS Piaggio ones for a bit more.

I decided to buy a heftier Stoffi's / SIP front spring and see if that makes a difference in the handling before if replace the whole front fork. Any tip for removing/replacing the spring or is it pretty straight forward? Thanks.

The spring is really easy to change.

It's held on by two of these. It just threads in.

this is the top one. You undo one nut, and it drops down.

So far the Stoffi's (SIP) spring has been an absolute bear to install. Definitely, uncompressible by hand. I tried nylon wire ties and they would just snap when I took the clamp off. I can't find large enough hose clamps locally either. Looks like I am going to have to build a compressor tool.

I ended up finding two 5" diameter hose stainless clamps at HD and was able to compress the 155mmm spring down to 143mm (after 5 tries and a lot of swearing). I screwed in the top retainer so that it was level with the top of the spring. It slid right into the fork bracket and I was able to rotate the retainer by tapping with a screwdriver and hammer so that the bolt was now able to accept the washer and nut. Good news is I still have all of my teeth.

Here is a stock photo of the procedure.

Definitely, firmer front end.

My face was right over the spring the first time the nylon wire ties let go (loud). Fortunately, the only casualty was my underwear.

I does not have to be that risky. All you have to do is screw the upper spring retainer into the spring-the threads will be below the spring. Place spring into the steering column, then screw the retainer in place.

No need for that crazy contraption.

Don't you love it when someone says something like this after you've spent days f$cking around with some part. 😄

I recall many instances trying to get something to fit on these damn things only to say to myself days, months, or even a year later, "Oh, god! It's so much simpler than that."

With respect to the upper retainer, that's exactly what I did and there was no way to compress the stiffer 155mm Stoffi's spring by hand to get it into place. Maybe I am missing something.
