Some of my hodgepodge mix of stuff includes:
- Base layers from Uniqlo.com (the heat tech tights are amazing and a fraction of the under armor equivalent cost). I'm less excited about the shirt. It isn't a compression fit. I find it works best if I wear it OVER a tshirt. I might still upgrade to an under armor compression shirt.
- I bought this fleece lined necktube https://amzn.to/3p5ziZy in November 2015 and I use it daily this time of year. Your only regret will be not buying two at a time. Trust me. I bought a second one. Could have saved myself some shipping lol.
- Heated gloves. I went with heated gloves instead of grips because I can use them for anything I'm doing: riding, shoveling snow, riding my electric fat bike, you name it. Grips only help you if you're on that vehicle.
- Down everything. Down jacket, down snow pants (see previous comment about snowmobile gear), put geese directly down your underwear if you can. Down is king.
- Good socks: There are cheap thermal socks and there are good thermal socks and you'll know which ones are the good ones because they will never go on sale and will always be more expensive, but oh so worth it.
- Tuck your tshirt in your underwear. It needed to be said. And yes, girls at your destination will tease you for it. Shrug it off. You'll be warm and ready. That's all that matters.
Winter is just an excuse to have different kinds of fun.
