I guess the questionable design of that foam airfilter on the front of transmission is not able to keep all the dust and grit from gravel roads out.

My bike is with my mechanic right now. He believes it's the bearing that is in the outer transmission case for the shaft with the clutch (sorry, I can't think of clearer way to describe which). Waiting to hear more from him.

😥😥😥

It should be a sealed bearing, and unaffected by road grime. But that's not to say they don't make a bad one from time to time. Fortunately, you are getting it taken care of early. I've seen a few crankcases destroyed because the bearing broke apart and then broke the place it sits in.

been quite a lot of light brown dust come out when poking an air compressor in the top and bottom of the case a few times over the last 2 years ... not just normal blackish road grime colour. yes this doesn't mean it's got into the bearing but it would explain the problem

and naturally this happened about 1 month after the 2 year warranty has ran out.

and the local parts supplier doesn't have that bearing in stock

at least if it is that bearing it's easy / cheap to replace

They are all common bearings that you can source at just about any auto parts store. Get the four digit size off it, and you'll be good to go. If it's a single sided bearing, meaning one side is sealed, you can just pick the seal out from the other side of a sealed bearing.

I might be the bearing that's pressed into the transmission cover, that the torque driver goes into for support. My Liberty has been making a weird sound and I suspect the same bearing failing. I ordered a new bearing and retainer clip. I think mine got damaged when I was servicing the transmission. Don't force the cover on...... Anyways, if that's what is damaged on your scooter its a easy fix. Keep us posted on your results.

He could do but it's not necessary. Sealed both sides is fine, it'll fit just the same.

All good now, no screams 😀🛵😀🛵😀

It was the one that we thought. The one in the transmission cover.

Got a different branded one which apparently is better sealed.
