You guys are real troopers! My scooters are all winterized and under their covers in the garage until March/April. I did consider taking off on the bicycle today but that wind was off the charts. Tomorrow I will revisit that even though the high temp is supposed to be 43. I've ridden 70 miles so far this December. That is a first (riding in December) for me!
Stay safe and ride on! Bob |

Merry Christmas all. No riding for a while but I have a bunch of new hardware to play with! Safe, healing and thankful.
Two plates and 14 screws, 35 staples!
Looks bionic. I joke that it is fully charged and ready to fire. Should be interesting at the airport next week!

I took one of the scooters out yesterday to run into town. The weather was warm, the scenery was drab but rich and the ride was fulfilling.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Last night we had 55mph gusts and this morning it was about 34F... If only it could make up my mind... store the bikes... ride the bikes...Oi! Merry Christmas All!

Oldschooot,
Best low light photos ever. I am thinking with all these night photos, you might secretly be Dracula. Of course, we will require a photo of you reflected in a mirror. Love your posts, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Bob Copeland Watch out for that fresh garlic.

Brought a load of Christmas gifts to my 19 year old daughter who currently has Covid 19. She was pretty stoked when I showed up on Salvatore all lit up for the occasion. I brought her all these sweets and candies and the poor kid can't even taste anything. I think me & Sal (and a lotta presents) cheered her up quite a bit. I hope so anyway.

I was full of admiration for my orthopaedic surgeon. At the age of 22 I slipped on ice one winter's morning whilst out on my racing cycle and broke the neck of my femur.
The surgeon operated later the same day by putting an angle plate in me to help reattach the femur. The plate was due to be removed some 6 months later in the middle of the cycle racing season, so I wrote and asked him if the plate removal could be delayed until later in the year and he duly obliged. I was given the plate as a souvenir along with the 4 3" screws which held it in place. |

The brace contraption made the X-ray scanner unhappy. I offered to take it off. So the brace went through the scanner in a plastic tray and then I went through with the pins and plates holding my elbow together and the machine did not object or alarm. Hopefully that means in the future I won't need special scanning every time I fly. Yea! |

Titanium is non-ferrous, so won't trip metal detectors. Same with the platinum in my wife's head.

For the record: when I got the hip replacement (titanium), the surgeon gave me "a card" to present when going through TSA scanning. With no other metal on my person, I set off the alarm 2 weeks ago; TSA agent didn't care that I had "a card"... I got a "4 minute" pat down. I know that because the TSA agent said, "This will be a 4 minute pat down - do you want to do this here or in a private room?"
I said, "Here's fine - do what you need to do." I won't know until New Year's Eve, but I think we're dating now. Kidding of course, my wife still doesn't let me date. Now, if I could talk her into a 4 minute pat down... well, nevermind. Merry Christmas to all. I got out for a ride this morning (72º at 8:30 am, sunny, and building wind)...
