Can't ride up to the letter boxes so easily in that. Or do a three point turn in a driveway. I trust it has a reverse.
I presume it was a committee choice without consulting the posties.

In some places it will take a day to make the same run that would have taken three hours... Rural postie, already use cars so perhaps the tricycle may work, (then again in dirt and muddy roads who know)... I can see the pressure and the need to move to electrics, but in the city they have already used tricycle for years, but only for the few selected runs. It is hard to replace the commodity, capacity and speed of the two wheels... By 2025 I can see a more feasible mix of two and three electric wheels in use, but again, with a severe struggle in the rural areas with batteries current capacity... |

Here in NZ we have been using Scandanavian Paxters for a few years. They have all sorts of "employee safety stuff" like audio and visual recording as they go (although the audio was turned off after complaints about privacy). There are certainly parts of the country they don't work in and push bikes are still used, and vans on rural deliveries.

I work as a postie in Oz. There is no way I could safely cover my current route with that 3 wheeled contraption.

My local postie in Melbourne uses an electric(?) bicycle.
But i have seen one of the 3 wheelers in the next suburb a few times in the last year or two ... |

Beside the legal (insurance side), I really don't see how your life could be safer from such devices.. With lots of people they don't even work as deterrent... |

Unfortunately as much as solid these Scandinavian buggies are, deaths do happen
This morning, in NZ: https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2021/12/nz-post-employee-killed-by-electric-buggy-in-tawa.html Condolences and thoughts to the family |
