I have two Disc Locks in my garage which I've been using on my motorbikes and soon realised I couldn't use them on the Vespa so I bought a D Lock and whoa and behold I can't get that through the Vespa discs either.

Is there a Vespa friendly Disc Lock on the market? If so I'd imagine it would be thinner than normal but would still be a decent deterrent against opportunistic thefts.

A small horizontal padlock is also sufficient as long as you remember to have the disc locked before setting off with the scooter.

Slightly more pricey option, but I ended up buying a Vespa with this pre-installed. You don't lose any storage space, as it mounts externally.

It's also really easy to attach and is always clean - no kneeling in the rain to add a disc lock!

An Oxford Mini fits mine. It's not the best out there, but with the D Lock through the forks as well it adds layers of security and therefore added time for the scumbags. Will your D lock go through your wheel and forks instead of the disc?

I purchased one of those seat to handlebar locks or my Liberty. Works great once installed. Downside is I had to drill and tap the hole in the handlebar end, and that bar metal is hard to drill straight. I found a small sealed bearing and clamped it to the bar end as a guide. You basically get one shot at doing it right.

I have a disc lock (there are many around that will fit a Vespa brake disc) , but found it impractical after I installed a C.L..M. Blindado handlebar lock. It was easy to install, and while somewhat pricier than a disc lock, much more secure and definitely cheaper than the Vespa branded version which is of the same quality. It also allows me to lock my helmet, which a disc lock can't do.

It isn't difficult to drill out some of the disc rotor holes a few sixteenths to accommodate a disk lock.

I understand your struggle with disc locks. The newer Vespas with ABS appear to have slightly smaller holes for disc locks than previous models. One disc lock that does work on ABS models is this special small version from Kryptonite, which Scooterwest sells and which I now use myself. I can confirm that it fits without any problem. Hope this helps! https://www.scooterwest.com/disc-brake-lock-w-reminder-cable-lock-disc.html

Thanks, znomit! I've been lurking around MV for quite some time, and it's been a wonderful complement to my experience as a new owner of a GTS (as of early November). Hoping to post more soon!

I use one of these. It's a little finicky at first, but fits in the disc holes well. It took a couple of practices tries, but I can easily get it to install and lock without issue. Not a steep learning curve at all

Yes, a disc lock with an audible alarm also prevents you from forgetting to remove it. Welcome Gabby ... from Latina, central Italy.

Hi and welcome Gabby

My problem is the disc is too close to the wheel rim so I can't slide the disc lock over the disc, I haven't even got to the problem of whether the pin is too big to go through the disc holes.

Hi Halijaro

Unfortunately my D lock is too short to go through the wheel spokes or the front forks, I should of bought a longer one but hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Hi Coddy, got it. I initially thought my disc lock couldn't fit even with its Scooterwest endorsement about fitting the smaller holes on the recent models, but I've found that two things make it work easily. First, I have the wheel straight rather than at an angle, just so it's easier for me to get to the rim in the first place. (After the lock is on, I turn the wheel again to use the steering lock as well.)

Second, and this was the main thing, I had to slide the disc lock on sideways rather than fitting it on from the front, as that indeed proved tricky. Once you turn the lock sideways (so you're looking at the slit directly rather than the back of the lock), then just slide it down over the rim, the tiny Kryptonite one works for me fine. Until I figured out the second point, I was struggling to get it on the rim, but now it's no problem. For reference, I have a 2022 GTS 300 HPE. Hope this helps in some way!

And thanks, Attila!
