Hey, I want to use a sealed front bearing rather than the felt seal, and my GL hub is poor after market. I have a spare Rally fork and hub, all piagio original. Question is, the rally uses a circlip to hold the bearing in and the axle has 4mm clear of the bearing. The GL has no circlip, the axle sits tight against the bearing.

So what's the correct process? Doesn't seem right not to hold the bearing in.

Who has done this before?

Tx

I also used sealed bearings when I rebuilt my GL's front fork. Other than skipping the felt sealing ring, I didn't to anything different and have put plenty of miles on it since then without any issues.

So a Sprint style axle fits in perfectly. Knock in until it's flush to the bearing. Be careful as you want to get up to it but not be hammering force against the inner bearing race. No need for the circlip. A Sprint hub fits on and clears everything.
