Hi
i really hope someone could help me as i am going insane.
I have a 2004 GT200L Granturismo vespa... It has been garaged for a quite few years but after taking it to the local mechanic (£350 later) and had it service, change the battery CDI as the immobiliser was not working etc everything seemed well.
I went for a lovely ride and than parked it up in the garage..
When i returned, three days after my ride the bike wouldn't start.
I thought it could have been the spark plug, so I went to buy a new one but still nothing!!!!
The engine is turning but on inspection the spark plug is dry when I took it out..!!!
I am well upset and stressed as i really dont understand why three days ago it worked well and now it wont start...
it did start at one point but 5 second later it died as it was like it was suffocating.. than nothing ever again
please help if you can

It is a 200L, 4 stroke 198cc engine.

You say the engine is turning so the starter motor is functioning. Therefore your battery seems OK and none of the other things that inhibit starting are active, such as the kill switch or the side stand switch. And I guess you do not move the throttle when trying to start?

An engine not starting normally means lack of spark or lack of fuel.

Check the spark by disassembling the spark plug and make contact with mass. Then start the engine and you should see the sparks.
If that is the case it seems lack of fuel is the problem.

It is a 2004 model. Does it have injection or a carburettor? If it is a caburettor: does it have a manual choke?

If the plug is dry, I'm gonna predict you aren't getting fuel. There is a vacuum tube from the intake manifold to the fuel pump, and from the fuel pump to the fuel tap under the tank. If there is a break in this tubing, the fuel tap can't open. That's where I would begin my search.
