Ok hive mind, gots a question fer ya….

P200 engine in my Sprint mounted a Malossi 210 MHR kit with a 30mm Delly with Malossi reed block, Mazzucchelli 60 mm full circle crank, stock P ignition, and slightly lightened flywheel (old school)

55 pilot
138 main
262 atomizer
70 choke jet
X13 needle clip on top location

Revs good enough in 1st & 2nd but falls flat on its face in 3rd and will almost die. If you try to hold mid range constant throttle it also wants to die.

Gettin a tad irritated…..

HELP!!!!

Change the atomiser for an AS268 and try again.

Didn't mention 30 slide.

I know this atomizer for some reason, two stroke specific atomizer? Seems like I may have used it in another scooter I was setting up. Seems you needed a two stroke atomizer to really get it to run correctly.

That's a very rich slide. The PHBH normally comes with a 40, and even this is too rich for many applications. I use a 45 with my old school 221, in conjunction with an X13 (2nd clip from top) and an AS266. That said, mine is a 28mm carb and yours has an MHR top end. You'd do well to get hold of 40 and 45 slides, to give you more tuning flexibility

Ordered a 40 slide last night. The rest of the setup is pretty good as a starting point I'm thinking. I've read a couple places though that an AS is too lean and go with an AV.

We'll see when the slide finally gets here. 🤣

Careful what you read. Lots of 2 strokes out there and a whole spectrum of applications. AS atomiser is good for your setup to make it more reliable. 50 slide would be better if you're buying one.

Oh believe you me, I trust the internet as much as I trust a Taco Bell fart. Just looking for a good start point then I'll tune from there. I see a lot of plug chops in my future….

The problem with using an AV (let's say race) atomiser in a fast road scooter, is the same issue as why you ended up on a 262 atomiser and not pulling 3rd gear. The richer the low throttle positions, the weaker the high throttle positions. Making the low throttle rich with weak components, allows the higher throttle to be richer. An AV atomiser on the road, will generally end up spluttery at low throttle, go really well in the middle and get slightly hot at the top. While using a ridiculous amount of fuel. Not saying it won't be ok but it won't be the best it could be.

Well got a new slide and some jets to put into the beast. Big thanks to everyone! We'll see how it goes!

Jack221 rocks by the way.
