Thanks. It's hard to see from this angle but the entire left side had white epoxy paint spatter. Think, dropping a gallon can of paint from the ceiling and it explodes 2 feet from the scooter. Two weeks worth of scrubbing with 00000 steel wool. Soaked it with Mirror Glaze, buff, turtle wax. Not bad results.

Vary nice garn! I love to see the transformation of the old, chalky paint to vibrant beauty. Good job! Clap emoticon Clap emoticon

The color revival looks fantastic. Doing something similar with a '65 Allstate Compact; I can respect the amount of effort in returning chalky primer to Farmall red.

Now, take a run at the 60/8 Club!

I bought a electric buffer but considering all of the nooks and crannies, I bailed and ended up doing it all by hand. Wet steel wool (00000) and lots of Dawn dish detergent, (if you want to cheat, use SOS pads [0000], NOT Brillo [00]), then polishing compound, then McGuire's mirror glaze and finally turtle wax. This method doesn't trash the patina, either.

Here's the Compact's legshield at the moment. Hand scrubbed with Dawn and then hand rubbed twice with Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound. Still have some weird marks to knock down before switching to polishing compound. There's some nasty rash where the broken fender was rubbing on the shield; I'll take your tip on SOS and see if I can smooth that paint a little. Dents and scratches are staying. Got a replacement trim kit coming from Austria since this one is UV-wasted.

Got the fork, floorboards, rear chassis and taillight housing to tackle once this passes muster. Thanks for the sneak peek of an end result!

Looks good! Here is a good video about old paint and patina restoration.

Don't forget the Mirror Glaze. It truly breathes life back into oxidized paint. Wipe it on 2-3 times thicker that you would regular wax. Let it soak in overnight. Buff. Repeat. Done.
