Because of COVID the celebrations for the wins leading up to the semi-final win over Spain were very subdued. Almost no one out. It made me wonder if maybe so many decades after huge waves of immigration, our heritage was finally starting to die out...
Riding the Vespa during these celebrations was amazing because people really got excited when they saw it. I could hear people cheering, yelling "'U motorino! 'u motorino!" (the little motorbike!), and even one guy yelling "HE'S COMING!!!" when he saw me to warn his friends to get ready to cheer
And it was nice to see some neighborhood friends I have known for almost 30 years come out and celebrate
