Just got a message this morning from Attilio's brother that he'd passed yesterday. Really in shock, although he'd been going through some stuff medically.

Despite a rough medical history ( including getting pulled back from death several times) he was impressively upbeat and optimistic.Gonna miss him..

Oh no! Our Attila? May he rest in peace.

Just saw a post by his sister on Facebook.

So very sad to hear this this morning. RIP Attilio; ge was a good one. Always enthusiastic, and always with a kind word of advice.

I am very sorry to hear this. He was a very cheerful person who enjoyed explaining all things Italian to us uncultured Americans..from engineering to food to the wonders of his beloved Latina region. I didn't interact with him very much but it was very pleasant to see him acting as such an ambassador for a culture we all admire through our two-wheeled hobby.

That's terrible news. He seemed a very nice, and smart, man.

When I saw him post this...Admitted with perforated bowel ulcer and already operated on.., I knew that he was in serious trouble.

A good friend died from sepsis caused by this several years ago.

That is a punch right in the heart. I enjoyed his many posts here and, having been through the hip replacement myself, tried to offer encouragement during his recent procedure. He will be missed here.

We communicated daily via FB and IG, and Attilio always brought a smile to my day. Ride on, my friend.

He was always a positive presence here. I will miss him.

getting better. Like many of you, I exchanged separate emails with this great
Italian Gentleman. He knew I had lived near Latina. We mail exchanged a couple
of items. I sent him a popular Minnesota themed T-Shirt.

He explained his last name evolved from Atilius, a Roman name of Etruscan origin.

I will miss his regular posts. Again, Wow. RIP and God Bless you kind Sir.

Oh my gosh, that is terrible news. I knew he was having issues, but this is quite a shock.

He was always a great contributor here, bringing a very Italian flair to our discussions. He will be sorely missed.

I find that my only proper way to salute Attilio is to use Google translate to quote a Finnish song in Italian language - a language I don't speak. I know he would appreciate.
