Checking my VIN - I see that my 2018 model yr Liberty150i S was made in Vietnam.
I'm curious - where was your scooter made?

kz1000ST wrote: Actually, not always. As has been discussed the plant it was produced in is one of the digits in the VIN number. 2008 & 09 Piaggio Fly 150s have ZAP VIN numbers but were built by Zongshen in China. The vehicle can contain a boatload of offshore parts but the bulk of the value of the product and its point of assembly will be Italy. I've seen complete Chinese engine/transmission units go into light trucks made here in southern Ontario as well a lots of other imported components, but the vin still starts with a 2 because of its "adequate"Canadian content and manufacture point It seems some manufacturers tip toe along right on the edge of the grey zone by basically bringing virtually the whole thing in as a kit, assembling it at home and coding it as made there. I don't think you'd want to get nailed doing that though. Not that I'm suggesting monkey shines on the part of an Italian company or a blind eye being turned by said same country's government. |

GTS HPE Super Sport 2021, manufactured in Vespa factory in Vietnam from mostly Italian and some local Vietnamese parts.
Interesting to note is while the chassis is made and pressed in Vietnam all the plastic body moldings are imported from Italy. |

babola wrote: Why? The VIN of vehicles built in Italy always starts with a Z. And the VIN of a Piaggio built in Italy normally starts with ZAP, where the P stands for Piaggio. As an other example: the VIN of vehicles built in France always starts with VF, which simply stands for "Véhicule Française". |
