I Noticed a leak within 3 days of installation. You can see the residue from the exhaust around the front of the can near the medal band that appears to have hex bolts. What shall I do? Also, Not to forget. In the mornings I can visible exhaust fumes exiting through this area.

You spent money in good faith. I'd email the maker with documentation and request a new can.

Looks like excess glue / sealant used during construction. Might not matter? But definitely contact the manufacturer with photos

As someone who just saved $1,400 on a furnace part yesterday because I thought to look up if I was covered under warranty (I was), definitely reach out to the manufacturer ASAP.

From Manufacture
Hello Mr. Smith, This is an issue, that occurs from time to time, but is not something we aim for, so please, contact your dealer and file a warranty complaint for the matter. Best regards, Rok Ilc |

First off, those look like rivets, not hex bolts. It also is not excess glue as one poster suggested because you said you can see exhaust coming from the area. I would call scooterwest and tell them about it, and see if they want you to send pictures. Also tell them about the email that you got from Akropovic. Ask them to e-mail you a shipping label because you should not have to pay postage to return it or to receive a replacement. Also ask them if they will include a new exhaust joint bushing at no charge. Good luck. I am interested to hear how good their service is after the sale.

Looks like he hasn't posted since March.
Personally I just bought an Akrapovic second hand for one of my BMWs, installed it, and listed it for sale the very next day. If it sells I'll take it off, if it doesn't I'll keep it, I guess. The price on these things is insane. Full retail is $1900 CAD after taxes, about $1,400 USD. Build quality seems great, the tone is much better, but the volume difference is negligible and there is no easily removable baffle (everything riveted). Whereas, on the Leo Vince (half the price) on my other BMW I can remove the baffle with one screw, and even with the baffle in, I love the sound much more. I'm not sure the milk is worth the squeeze with Akrapovic exhausts anymore. |

Adri,
Always appreciate your replies. A year ago, I bought an Akrapovic for my Sprint 150. The best price I found was on Amazon and it was about $550.00. I mostly think it looks good and sounded way better that stock. Six months ago I got interested in replacing the baffle and it required drilling. Then I ended up running the scooter with no baffle and it sounds great to me. Louder but not too loud IMHO! Here's a video on a humorous and hard way to remove the baffles. I was looking again as I had my eye on a sweet 2016 GTV 300. I didn't move fast enough and it's gone. I needed another bike not at all but love the looks of the GTV. Oh well! I know well. See a bike you like? Better move now! |
