I just fitted a 36L topcase and changed out the standard bar end weights with the heavier ones provided with the topcase

While it's reassuring to feel I have the 'correct' bar end weights fitted now, I think that, if anything, the bars are "livelier" than before the bar ends were swapped over.

So my question is this:

Given that I mostly have the topcase empty when on the move, are the bar end weights provided to counter the effect of an empty or full topcase? To me, it would seem that an empty topcase surely can't warrant the heavier bar ends. But what do I know?!
