Hi,
In this video from VespaMotorsport
they imply that the lower race must be removed to remove and fit a new fender.
Is that true?

I got a P200 with a mangled front fender so planning to replace it with a "Mudguard SIP EVO II"

Thanks in advance

Never mind. This http://www.vespamaintenance.com/body/forks/index.html
page indicates that the fender can be removed without removing the race

it can be done with the dust cover in place (it's actually the dust cover that it hangs up on not the bearing race) it just takes a little fiddling about and contortion but it'll come.

if you're there, have a look at the bearings (both top and bottom) and determine if they need refreshing in that it's an ideal time to do so while it's all apart.

thank you. i definitely will. also hope their not rusty, so I can knock the lock rings loose with a screwdriver and hammer, and I just have to pack the bearings with grease.

The bearings are pretty cheap, if you have it apart I'd replace with fresh, even if you're not doing anything with the seats.

I was just about to say this. The races last damn near forever and the bearings are the sacrificial part.
